LITO has more info but he ain't telling (at least not to me  )

I heard from my dealer (Hamman Motorrad) that Donfords BMW in Stellenbosch has access to the bikes. I also heard that BMW is actually paying members of the public to ride their 1200 Adventures and report back to them - But I guess it's by invite only

what difference does it make? it's not as if the design is still in the developmental phase. everyone knows what it looks like already.

at a dry weight of 225kg, it's still not what i want, even if it was affordable. the 950 is all the bike i can handle, not that i'm battling, but still....

i love the way it [the bmw] looks though. the germans really know how to make something look classy and rugged at the same time - something the japs will never be able to do.

as for ktm 950 - although it is my chosen ride, i wish it looked more like the 640 ktm or even the 1150bmw (the best looking ds of all time in my opinion)

an imaginary friend of mine was riding it. he says it might have been very comfortable after he had maybe adjusted the seat. the new big screen might also be very good at wind protection but he might have also heard more engine noise because of it. he also might have said that it might make the old adventure feel smaller and heavier (ponderous). the suspension might also have been better. the engine might have been a bit buzzy on the highway with his hands getting tingly, maybe the engine was still a bit tight. he might also buy me a beer one day.

he definetly did say all it needs are machine guns mounted to it to make it look like a real war machine.

Saw two of them on Table Mountain and seven of them on the Garden Route. Fking unfriendly and rude Kraut bastard leading the pack. The only guy who smiled and was friendly, after I stopped on the middle of the N2 and offered them an alternate twisty beautiful tar route through Bloukrans Pass was the SAfrican riding the reg 1200GS.

Even Hilde who might just be the most innocent and sweet girl ever (cant say a bad word about anyone really, must be the reason she tolerates me), just shook her head in amazement and said: ONBESKOF!!!

The red trim one is definately the better looking one. I didnt think on either occassion that they are that big to be honest. They just look like pimped 1200GS's.

But I too like the looks, from any direction and I must say that the 950 only is sexy to me from certain angles. The Austrians can learn a thing or two from the Germans IMO.

LS...........I read somewhere that the panniers for the 1200 Adv is made by Touratech in a joint venture between TT & BMW.

Yes, I have also heard that.
The panniers must have a TT logo somewhere on them because it is frequently discussed by overseas owners of the 12Adv.

From the report on AdvRider (if I read it correctly) it seems that the mounting points of the cases are weak and the whole luggage system rattles loose and fall off during rough riding.
The rider actually had to tie them down using a couple of straps (that were melted by the exhaust) to keep them from tumbling down the road.

The plastic corners also seems to be a problem. When the bike falls over the plastic bits simply break!

My TT Zega cases are not perfect but they seem to be a lot better than these ones
