Title: A Fine Collection - New Additions 13/10/12
Post by: Gérrard on August 23, 2012, 06:57:05 pm
Some of those from PE might know Alan Lewis(bikealanpe), and the nice collection of bikes and stuff he has. I visit now and again, and like spending time around the bikes. Today I got permission to fotograph and show it off for you a bit.

A Vespa putt-around and another Airhead CR in the making in the background

Mini bike

And a couple of monkey bikes

A few open shots. Would have loved to have a wider angle camera. Its a bit tight in there for really nice pics. My first bike is like the ss50 in the last pic.

Note the nice collection of models

Some race bikes. The first one, a 250, was owned and raced by the late Johan Boshoff

And a pristine CBX

The remarkable thing about this collection is that just a few of them are restored... the rest are pristine originals.

My first bike was a Honda C110 50cc, like the red and blue ones next to the Bimota. I gave it to Simon Fourie many years ago. He used to display it on his pool table.

This collection is in some instances quite unique, as Johan Boshoff's 250, which was given to Alan by Johan's father, and is ready to race.

There's a story behind most of the bikes. Look again at the blue CG125 on the first pic of reply #1. It was ridden by a younster in the '60's and hung in the garage roof in '68. Forty years later it was given to Alan, still with its, then current, Third Party Token on the bike, cleaned up and put on display.

The red XL 125 is stil brand new with just a couple of kilo's on thye clock.

And all those bikes run like Swiss watches.

Dwerg, hy het 'n klomp monkey bikes. Ek ek seker hy sal met jou 'n deal maak vir een.

Don't be surprised if you find it somewhere in Alan's collection. He's like a magnet to these bikes and its his big passion. There are more than the four you see.

Wow, this bring back memories. The first bike I started to ride was a "Chappie". Neutral was on top and 4 gears down. I was in standard 5 then. Used to surf so balancing came natural.
I miss the 50 cc days would love to have a collection of all the 50 cc back then

Nice pics though...

Thanks

Sommer so gemaklik  :ricky:
Vir n jong lat was dit baie impressive.
