Title: Why the 1200GSA can be seen as the "Landcruiser" of DS bikes...
Post by: Garfield on November 14, 2012, 09:29:41 am
 :imaposer: 2SD, got you  :deal:

Hope no-one thought I was serious, but there are similarities...

- Both have weaknesses a large percentage of owners deny
- Both have a large percentage of owners who think their vehicles are better than others
- Both have a large percentage of owners who think they are better than others
- Both have owners who will greet other GSA/Cruisers on the road but not other DS bikes/4x4's
- Both have a large percentage of owners who are good guys, who will ride with anyone and help anyone on a bike if need be

Lots of people worry about me, the bank manager probably most of all  :imaposer:

Was just bored this morning, this was a feeble attempt at  :pot: I know.

Just for the record, I really like and enjoy my GSA  :thumleft:

Now you've got me disconfabulated. I absolutely love my old 1994 80 series Cruiser dieseldonkie. Consider it the pinnacle of automotive achievement.  But you wouldn't see me in or on a BMW.  Old family dictum: "Net armes van gees ry met BMWs".

I ride a lightweight KTM, but I do think the 1150GSA has a majestic presence.

However, you need lotsa muscles to get upright again in the event of a fall.

No, no, no!  200 series is a "Korean Cruiser"!  Similar in GS1200 parlance would be BMW bringing out an in-line watercooled twin with two plastic pods sticking out the sides...

I think the 1150 GSA would rather be the LC of DS bikes.
Heavy and tough. Same as the LC.

So then the F800GS would be the PRADO then? And the XR650L the GWM/Mahindra Scorpio?   :imaposer:

My 1200 GSA gives as much crap as my 1964 Land Rover.  My 1150 (years ago), that could maybe be compared to a LC.

The GS1200 is the exact opposite of a non-100/200series Landcruiser. On tar the old "real" Landcruisers are'nt too bright, but offroad they shine. The GS1200 is so well designed for tar work, the manufacturers did'nt bother to make it's safety feature work on dirt. It is this bad.
