Title: Rhino Park question
Post by: wiledog_X on January 09, 2013, 11:40:54 pm
i've never been to Rhino Park on the bike. seen plenty of photos of the guys playing in the sand there. i want to check it out this weekend. what i'd like to know is, are the enduro trails there do-able on a DS bike, or is it strictly for plastics?

Completely do-able on a DS bike, but just take your time with them and you should be fine  :thumleft:

Everybody can do the loops at Rhino with DS/ plastic.
'Cept ol groundhog Carrots - he prefers to do it on his face.

It's a great place to take a DS bike to, learn a bit of technical stuff on a DS.
But use some common sense, there are a few places where you shouldn't take a DS bike, but you'll see them quickly enough, they go straight up in the air and there's usually someone tumbling off them with a plastic.
There's also a longish loop that is great fun to ride on a DS bike.

Btw, what do they have there? as in a tuck/spaza shop, braai area etc.

There is a nice braai area, simple restaurant and a cafe.

Die lekkerste speelplek in Rhino park is daar agter die sand oppad na die quarry gat.

Baie single track, wat uit sand en klei bestaan. Dan ook in die quarry gat is daar lekker single tracks.

Most of it can be done on a DS bike (smaller variety rather than GSA although I have seen a guy on his GSA do it). I have done just about the whole place on my 690. when it rains a lot it can get veeeery muddy with deep clay. After a rainy spell I probably wouldn't do it again, but then I'm talking days of endless rain like last last year and not just one shower. Otherwise I ride there on my plastic 2-3 times a month.

+1 on the clay after it rains.

Took us almost an hour to do 1km or so just from sliding all over the place on that black clay
