Title: KTM 690 - 2nd and 3rd gear restriction
Post by: Jules on January 22, 2013, 11:49:28 am
I See there is a limit on the throttle opening of 20-30% in 2nd and 3rd gear
Supposedly for noise and pollution reasons,
This is easily bypassed,
Does this restriction also apply to our 690's
anyone done it and have any feedback

Yip I did it on mine. Just pulled the wires out of the plug and taped them up. Having said that, I would not bother if I was you as the effort is not worth the result. I hardly noticed a difference.

Do you tape them together (join the two connectors) or separately?

I taped them up separately. Just be careful they are not easy to get out of the connector.

Thanks, one web site suggests flattening the end of a paper clip a little and slipping that along the cable to release the molex connector, seems like a plan

congrats on the new 690.

Ride it in properly, then if you do not have an aftermarket pipe on yours take the spark arrester completely out at the end of the pipe, and then take it for a spin, but be caucious, it is a whole new bike after that....... :ricky:

Wild wild wild.

Funny enough i ended up doing it anyway, not noticeable in normal riding but when you wheelie it is noticeable.  Wot in 3rd gear lifts the front with minimal effort
