Title: KTM 640 Tank Bag
Post by: High 5 on April 15, 2013, 09:20:22 am
Hi all,

I am looking at buying myself a tankbag for my 2001 KTM 640 Adventure, and wanted to get some opinions on what is a good /bad choice for the KTM  640 specifically.

If anybody has had luck with a good tank bag on their scoot and is happy to share their knowledge and possibly some pictures I would greatly appreciate it.

It seems the GIVI and SW Motech ones seem very popular but very expensive at the same time, I once had a HELD tank bag on my Transalp but sold it with the bike and can't find where to get these.

Cheers
Sheldon

I fitted a kappa rear luggage bag onto the 640 tank, the straps are universal.   R+- 500

Thanks for the replies chaps, its most appreciated.  That SW Motech is a very nice piece of kit, its just the fit that concerns me a bit.

@Bubby, I can't seem to find Sparky on the forum to ping him (maybe my technical ability at fault)

I made a cubby-hole for my bike... a bag that fits perfectly into the space behind the screen... it has a zip across the front and a ton of space in there for all sorts of things...

Works better for me than a tank bag, and it just velcro's down!

Just another idea...

I cut it by making a template, 3 pieces of cardboard... one along the bottom, one along the back(going up pretty high), and then one closing the front... cut the canvas proud, and sew together.... put a zip in!
So it's sort of triangular....

@ Malibu that sounds like an awesome idea, I actually bought myself a first aid kit from Outdoor Warehouse and by the sounds of things it is a similar concept to what you are describing.

Mine also attaches with velcro, here are some pics of my setup.  Could you also post some pics of your bag that you have on the dash.

My bike is at ADA, I'll fetch her on the weekend and then take a few pics...

And yes, that medical kit looks seriously similar... I just made mine a bit higher...

Actually, a waist bag type thing could do the job too... good idea!
