I would like to mount my spots nearer to the headlight, as mounting them on the crash bars will probably be too low and too far from the front of the bike - the purpose of my spots will mainly be for cager visibility.
I had a look at manics spots, but they seem to be directly under the headlight - I would like mine more to the sides and below the headlight.
I have found a bracket that SW-Motech sells, but the SA distributors reckon it will be another 2 months before that bracket is available here ::) and SW-Motech does not sell to SA, because there are agents here..... <catch 22> :-\ I don't feel like waiting another 2 flippen months!
Anybody crafty enough to build something similar to the pic below? Or ideas how to bypass the SW-Motech crap?

Its only a matter of time before Ii too mount spots.
The standard V led daylight system , while looking trick, just isn't noticeable enough for my liking.
I want other vehicles to clearly see me during the day.
-
I agree, I keep my brights on all the time during daytime riding for ekstra visibility as the cool V light aint very noticeable. I'm in for spots, so please let me kno if you find a solution in the mean time. Thanks :thumleft:

So why dont you ride with your dims on.
That LED light is anyway Illegal in SA. You guys are gonna get hurt with the LED cool looking oh crap over the car bonnet broken bones LED light.

I want nice and bright spots, mounted high enough for a cager to see me in his rear side/mirror whilst lane splitting - I can clearly see that cagers aren't as aware of me as on my previous bike with nice and bright fog lights that were permanently on and an orange cover over my dipped main beam
-
Hi Manic, My dim goes off as soon as I pull out of the garage and then only the V light stays on? So I keep it on brights

Go into Settings.
Turn DRL to OFF.
Dim will stay on 24/7 night or day :thumleft:
DRL= Daytime Running Light.

Thanks Manic :thumleft: Will do.
When you switch it OFF, it is suppose to stay off.
Mine does.
But some guys reported after switching the ignition off, when they start, it is only the LED on again.
So just check yours and make sure DRL stays OFF :thumleft:

Mine does not stay off - it resets to ON after switching the ignition - I asked RAD about it and they reckon that's the way it's supposed to be...... ::)

Must say they look awesome :thumleft:

@Toors
do your spots bolt directly onto the bike or do they mount on a bracket that bolts onto the bike?
Maybe one can extend it if it's a bracket.....

they do hey? and they won't be too close to interfere with flasher visibility and form a nice big area of light combined with the headlights

Those are the Hawk spots, also by SW Motech (www.bikegear.co.za)
Less than half the price of the originals!
And Matthew reckons he's getting even nicer ones soon!

If you add the fuel dongle then all settings are saved on switching off and when on again all stays the same. Costs around R1900 to install but then all your ABS MTC, DLR are saved and don't reset.

got hold of a company in Europe that was prepared to ship the SW-Motech Hawk brackets for the 1190, but shipping costs and the time it would take would not make it worth it, so fuckit, I'll mount them myself and when bikegear eventually get them, I will consider - it's always the hassle of buying a launch model....
I was more than prepared to pay R1k for the brackets, but it seems nobody here is equipped to make them - go figure!
