Title: 690 Owners ,Sprocket millage?
Post by: 777 on August 17, 2013, 10:15:06 am
I bought mine with 5000km on clock now has 18000 and they seem due for replacement. As I say when I got it the bike had 5000km ,not sure if J Dog , previous owner had replaced or not , so safe to say the have done 13000km. What have you got out of yours and cost to replace chain and 2 sprockets?

Your mathematics does not make sense ??

18000 - 5000 = 13000  ???  not 8000 ?

And if not replaced then they have done 18000  ??

18000 sounds on par.

Rarely seen more than 20000 on a chain and sprocket set.

Wow! Julle is swaar op sprockets en kettings. Seker oor ek besadigde ryer is. Myne is nou op 22000km en behoort gemaklik 30000 +km te kry.

To get back on topic... it depends entirely on how heavy you are on the twisty tube. First sprocket I got 16k miles (slightly over 25000 km), by not being a hooligan. I replaced it because I had a couple of long rides coming up and was replacing the rear tyre anyway, but probably could have nursed another couple of 1000 klicks out of it as it wasn't too badly worn.

The new one has only got 9500 miles (15k km) and is starting to look a bit wave like on the teeth but I have been riding more agressively than last year. Also when I replaced it I used a non ktm sprocket, which might have something to do with the wear.
