Title: I love my LC!!
Post by: jj le roux on September 15, 2013, 11:25:11 am
Tell us about your LC. What you've enjoyed most about it. Sadly circumstances have led to a lot of negative criticism and publicity but I'm sure it can't be all bad??

Tell us your story even post some pictures if you will.

Haven't spoken to Jan yet but having said that this thread is not a attempt to convince me otherwise but rather to hear all the good things, the positive riding experiences. Most of the time this and other forums can become so negative, an ego flinging mud swinging arena. Yes we can't ignore what's being said but no reason for it to overshadow such an awesome bike. I tested it and its been keeping me awake. It's a beautiful bike if anything.

Did a ride with some customers and friends of Sovereign, our local dealership this morning.  It was not about fast riding, more single track stuff with a bit of railway ballast and sporadic up and down and sideways fun.  Although we did clear the throats a little in the linking gravel road sections.  The bike's performance is incredible and the suspension in the Enduro Pro mode for this kind of riding is impressive.  I can't wait for the Karoo 3's, which I will fit in time for the ECO - still have a track day at Phakisa before that.  My take on this bike is - it may not be perfect, but it is (s)miles better in every way than the previous GS.  With all our slow, fast, technical and tar riding today, I always felt fully in control, and the operating the potentiometer on the right side handle is a positive experience every time.  This bike is winning the awards out there.  It is not by chance.   :thumleft:

Came from riding an 800, I love my LC the wife loves my LC. Only think I do not like is the loud clunky gearbox. Have not been  on gravel yet, can not decide on with crash bar to buy and those knoppe on the side will not take a drop well without bars

My 800was better going over speed bumps,  never needed to slow down

My LC het nou 2000km op.  Loop soos 'n droom.

I have had mine for approximately 3 or 4 months! 9,500 km and the only issues I have are with the crappy Metzeler tyres they fit, oh and availability of replacement tyres, other than Metzeler!

I love the bike!

100% happy with the bike so far.
No mechanical or ride issues in 3-odd thousand km
Better ride and real life riding/performance than the previous generation. I had occaision to borrow a 2010 model for a day after a few months on my LC - I wont be going back...

Lovely to cruise on, one up or two;
Great on gravel and good single tracks;
Can't comment on anything more technical than that, not done it yet;
Ride modes do seem to work well, though I admit to being lazy to use them most of the time;
Fuel consumption pretty good, much better than my last two oil heads.

Had gripes initially on accessory availability initially, but I expected that.

All in all a good bike for my needs and riding style.

Cheers

My 1200 LC.

I love the smooth power, the wet clutch, the fact that the suspension, traction control and ABS can be switched between modes without the need to stop. I love the steering feel, light but sure footed.

I love the fact that the bike do not bottom out, and will therefore not require a suspension upgrade like my 2012 model.

Here is mine, showing some of the farkles sold to me by Pauli!

9500 km in just 3 months on a bike is good going. I reckon more then most will do in a year. Awesome!! Hope you get the tyres soon. Maybe Pauli wanna post some pictures of his LC with the Karoo 3's???

My LC, yes also white, the only colour for this model :)

The pic was taken just before departing for Cederberg with newly fitted Karoo 3's. I have lots of video to share with those interested.

After a few hundred km's on dirt, rock, sand, mud, water and anything else the route could throw at us, I love the LC even more. The Karoo 3's were excellent although I thought the wear was a bit excessive!

We saw HermanH at the Tankwa roadstall on the way out and I agree with a comment he made. "The Karoo 3's corner in dirt like you're on tar."

Post by: w@nted on October 11, 2013, 01:35:52 pm
Dankie Jan! Ja ek hoor jou, 1200 verseker n beter toer fiets.

Ek dink my 800 se dae is getel... :deal:
Title: Re: I love my LC!!

Title: Re: I love my LC!!
Post by: BikerJan on October 18, 2013, 08:30:19 am

As jy hom sou gebruik het sou jy vind daar is baie goedte hieroor geskryf!

First, may I suggest that you start a new thread concerning the clutch issue, as Jan pointed out already, this thread is about why we love the LC. An alternative would be:

http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=129167.200 (http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=129167.200)

Second, I am also curious about who you are, good forum manners suggest that you introduce yourself. Try:

http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?board=16.0 (http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?board=16.0)

Thirdly, exactly what clutch problems are you referring too? Is it slipping, not engaging, not releasing, too stiff to pull (Now hat sounds like what happened in boarding school once) or any other issue?

None of the other riders, at least to my knowledge, reported clutch problems to date.

And my final comment, welcome to Wilddogs, now go introduce yourself so the dogs can sniff your butt.

Prokureur word so gespel.

The bike was serviced at BMW,it is a brand new bike, they have also informed me today, that they have changed the oil and brake fluid, and the problem is still the same. They have to open the clutch

Ek sou nogal n loaner baie kilos op sit in so situasie.

Swak diens stop nie by een persoon nie, deesdae weet almal.

Ek commute met my bike, in so n geval sou dit nogal issues vir my gemaak het. (nie my kar by my nie)

Net 'n gedagte...

Eina!

Terwyl ons nou so mekaar se taalfoute en so aan regmaak, onthou, daar volg altyd a spasie na 'n komma, of 'n punt.  Daarby word "clutch" so gespel: "koppelaar".

It was time for the 800 to go and I must admit as late as yesterday I wasn't sure if I should go ahead with this. To confuse matters even more on the way to the dealer to pick up the new bike the 800 gave its best.

Needles to say I had to take the new bike out for a good run after I picked it up. Even though we only did 360 it's a no brainier, this is one awesome machine   :imaposer: Me and Amanda did a roundabout trip to Greyton with some gravel bits and it's was evident that things changed, a lot in just 3 years. I haven't even got the right tyres for off road and it's already clear that this is a different kettle of fish.

Did a overnight round trip from Cape Town to Knysna over the weekend. Was time for some bonding and feeling out the bike. Did all of 1100km's on tar in all sort of conditions from wet roads to very strong winds. We decided to go along the R62 and back along the N2 just for variety. Some of the best "on" riding in the country along here with breath taking views and loads of time to run at speed and a chance to make the back tyre round again.

I don't have words to describe the absolute pleasure I have while I'm riding my bike. What ever I threw at it it just absorbed and was ready to take some more. Even the way I felt physically after doing 600 km's on saturday was proof that this is the bees knees. If there was more time and road in the day I surely would have kept on going.

I'll be making sure to acquire some knobs soon to try it off road.

JJ, call Pauli. He has the adopter which will allow you to plug your Montana into the BMW Navigator's power socket. Then you can remove the BMW Navigator bracket and mount your Montana on the crossbar.
