Not Suzuki. Most probably a Chinese transplant. ???

Does the engine number correspond to the registration document?

If not, one could check it on the e-Natis system, to determine the origin. :thumleft:

Engine was reregistered to the frame

Only the old DR 600 had a twin exhaust.

Is the clutch cable/clutch on the left of the engine?

How does the engine run?

How many kms on the bike? The DR 200 engine, if abused, can be shot by about 25k.

Doesn't the engine number identify the manufacturer?

Looks like some weird cross between a DR250Z head (four valve, plug left) and a DR200SE (electric start in front of crankcase).

I think it's Chinese.

I'll pray for you if you need spares!

CP clutch on the left, engine runs better than my 200 used to. It has a lot of power runs 120km/h easily so may be 600 and it fits perfectly on the frame of the 200

isn't it maybe a Puzey of some sorts?

they allways say that they are based on the DR200/250's, and that parts are interchangable

Puzey runs single pipe

Didn't some of the older XT's come with 2 pipes? We had a 250 that did have. Seems to be quite a mystery this one! :lol8:

Somewhere on the barrel/top end it should indicate cc's

Ask suzuki to check up on engine number  too.

You can send me the engine number. Maybe I can determine the origin of the engine for you. :thumleft:

it looks like a generic chinese copy - they all look the same

dont count out the chinese - the engines are a little pap but in general they work very well, last a long time and can be fixed for R24.50  :thumleft:

Fong Kong ??? King Kong's broter is make qality MOtor bikes now ??? :lol8: :o

Bobnob:
You are right the Chinese mils usually are pap.
In General they work very well, pap but well, until they break, which will be soon. Then they still work - as a designer paper weight and a reminder of the sell out of the worlds quality engineering to the empire of the cheap rubbish.

They can be fixed for R24.50 if you can still get the necessary spare part which against all assurances will not be the same as used in a Honda CD200. As a rule the only part that breaks in a Chinese engine will always be precisely the one which is NOT compatible with any Japanese part.
My claim is this is exactly the reason why precisely this one part fails ::)

The Japanese copied European engineering:
They looked at it, improved it, produced it in better quality for less money and sold it.

The Chinese copy Japanese & European engineering:
They look at it, make it cheaper, in very poor quality and adorned with an instruction manual which in comparsion lifts a badly dyslexic stutter onto Shakespearean levels and sell it at Chinatown ::)

The flat oval structures on the sides of the head just behind the exhaust ports are prep for a secondary air induction system, just not machined. Not present on the DR250Z or GN250 heads.
My bet is still on China. GN250 copy / derivate.

Wonjan Suzuki - Chinese motorcycle company partly setup by Suzuki

...It is a DR250 equivalent...

Not quite. The DR 250Z http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=132980.0 (http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=132980.0) was kick start only.
Its engine was developed into the GN250's mill. (By grafting on an electric starter and deleting the kick starter)

Have eventually found the real engine/ designation. it is a Suzuki/Loncin GN300 ATV engine so spares are no problem

Also interested.

Here it is: http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Loncin-300cc-atv-engine-GN300-assembly_60056023721.html (http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Loncin-300cc-atv-engine-GN300-assembly_60056023721.html)
And at USD100 (if you bought 100 of them) it's a steal  ;)
