Title: 690 error code help please.
Post by: Kelevra on October 28, 2013, 10:33:36 am
I need some help with an error code.

I have the 4 long 1 short FI flash code. According to the manual its a interruption/short circuit to ground in fuel pump control circuit. I cannot do the 15 min idle reset as I cant get the bike running that long.

Any advise would be highly appreciated! I am in Potch and the nearest dealer is in Klerksdorp want to see if I can fix it before making the trouble to take it to the dealer.

Cheers
David

If I remember correctly, that means the brushes have worn out and you need a new fuel pump.  California Cycle works are apparently the replacement of choice and its about R2000 cheaper.  Did you get lots of black residue in the filter?

Thanks Bill the Bong

Thanks for the reply.

I've had the bike now for a total of 400km and I took ownership of it after it has been serviced. It was running fine and this problem is out of nowhere. It has an aftermarket pipe on (Leo Vince) and I'm not sure if it was remapped for the pipe. I will replace the stock pipe and see if I can get it to idle longer than the required 15 minutes to reset the FI settings.

When you switch the ignition to, does the pump cycle as per usual?  Maybe open the fuel cap and listen for grinding noises.  If that is the case, the pump will likely only run for a couple of minutes at a time.
