Afternoon

I am in search of a set of 50/50 tires for my LC can anybody help

Metzeler Karoo 3 is your answer, mighty impressed with them on tar, dirt and even in the rain on the tar.

Coles, there is only one 50/50 available un SA if there is stock and that is the Karoo 3. All the other options are 80/20 type tyres like Anakee III, Tourance Next etc.

If 50/50 is your need then Karoo 3 is your tyre. I love mine but not good mileage on the rear.

Enjoy! I recently went on dirt without the Karoo's and felt very vulnerable. They make a big difference.

My suggestion is to treat these tyres with mechanical sympathy like with knobblies used on tar. They are made for European 'adventure riding' conditions.
Do:
Watch your pressures intently
Carry your own pressure guage
Heat seal the tyres in!

Don't:
Accelerate hard when tyres cold (engine might be warm but tyres not)
No sustained high speeds on tar
Don't spin up the rear...to much...

Continental TKC 80's are now available in the LC sizes.

Probably 70/30 or there abouts....unless they come up with a compound to suit us you going to pay for tyres. Conti TKC are brilliant tyres :thumleft:

Ek kry die indruk dat Karoo III die enigste werklike opsie is as jy so bietjie van die teer af wil gaan.

Die probleem is om by die grond te kom is daar altyd teer. Kan die manne met ondervinding my help met die volgende.
-- Padgeraas: Klink dit nie soos 'n "Vasbyt-Bedford" nie.
-- Vibrasie: Ek weet nie of ek graag 'n 2.2 Toyota bakkie wil ry nie, Ek wil graag teen 120 in die spieŽl kan kyk en iets sinvol sien.

Dalk 'n bietjie oordryf maar ek sal graag eerlike objektiewe kommentaar hieroor wil kry.

Darem nie, daar is wel padgeraas maar tussen die wind end die enjin is die nie so erg nie. Inteendeel ek vind dat die geraas soortgelyk is aan die Anakee III.

Daai is nie 'n probleem nie, die vibrasie is baie prominent op lae spoed, onder 30km/h. Normale dorp en hoofpad spoed kan jy darem die spieŽls gebruik :-)

Die bande hanteer die teerpad baie goed. Bestuur net jou banddruk mooi op langer stukke teer om oorverhitting te vermy wat lei tot vinnige afloop, veral op die agterband. Ek het my eerste agterband op 4000 teen die muur gehang, daar is nog so 4mm van die spoor oor in die middel van die band waar die meeste rubber weg is. Ek het hom egter baie verniel en beplan om beter na die tweede een te kyk.

Die Karoo 3 loop nie so glad soos 'n slangvel nie, maar hy is stabiel en werk goed genoeg op teer en grond.  Die "compound" is reg vir reasonable band lewe - beter as die ou Karoo T.  Maar sy traksie is minder.  Die tyre wiskunde kan nie verander word nie.  Hard compound = Low Traction = Many miles.  Soft Compound = Good Traction = Fewer miles.  Ek "rate" die Karoo 3 'n 50/50 band.

Die TKC's het ek nog nie gesien nie, en sy "rating" sal afhang van die "compound".  Tyd sal leer....

My Karoo 3's raas verskriklik baie op teer, vanaf so 140 tot 160 km/ uur is dit baie steurend. Ek is agter baie tevrede met hul traksie op teer en op grond

And are these available in SA by any chance? Loved the TKC80s on the ADV so I'm sure they should be great on the normal GS
