Texas Kawasaki KLR650 does 132 000 km in 503DAYS :lol8: LEES EN PRESTEER NE...
When 26-year-old Alex Chacon finished his medical science degree he celebrated by selling everything he owned except his Kawasaki KLR650, and riding from El Paso to the southernmost point of South America. That done, he then rode it all the way  to Alaska before getting back into the saddle to make his way home.

The New York Daily News Website reports that he made a video along the way and raised money for charity..

The title of the video, The Modern Motorcycle Diaries, is a reference to the book witten by another medical student, Che Guevara, who rode part way around South America in the '50s on an ancient British Triumph, but left the bike behind after a short while because it kept breaking down.

If he'd bought a KLR he'd have finished the ride on two wheels and arrived home in a better mood!

132 000kms in 5 months is 26400 kms per month.
That is 880 kms per day every day.

Somehow I find this hard to believe. Not the total kilos but the time it was done in.

Edit: so i read the article after i posted.

It is 503 days not 5 months. 503 days is 16 months.

Yes that is believable.

Thanks for explaining that one Chris, I also found the timeframe hard to believe. Still, even 16 months is very impressive.

Not having read the article, I assume the bike had some km's on before he started.

:laughing4:  :laughing4: So maybe Triumph was responsible for the revolution? Perhaps you are correct if he had a KLR he would still have been riding instead of firing up all those South Americans  >:D

Can't say how much credibility I'll attach to the story if they can't even get this right... It was a Norton.

Alex Chacon completed a 503 day motorcycle ride from Alaska to the southern tip South America this spring - and met several inspiring people along the way.
