Title: Sand Ride 19/01 Guateng.
Post by: blazes on January 21, 2008, 11:54:09 am
Thank's Toothpick and her Hubby,Tinus for setting up the ride for us and being such great hosts. The weather was great and the sand was super rideable. If you had the right tyres on ? As i arrived late due to a Technical Problem and a cop trying to stop me on the tar( was he insane to try and catch me on my XR.) ? As the ride was taken care of by Tinus and some sand training given by Toothpick i could take time off and just have some fun for a change. The WD's who braved the elements were: Toothpick, Tinus, Malgat, Adventure Boy, Slainche with his Black Mamaba, Aquatic, Hastalavista,a friend of Aquatic's Andre new to DS riding. and for those i have forgotten excuse me. I do suffer sometimes from memory loss?
Here are a few pics of me and the gang. The rest will be posted by Toothpick. By the way Andre the newbie on his way home dived through the BIG puddle we were all riding through, The one Malgat got me back in after i had splashed him wet, and lost all his XT 660 plastics  :o :o

Hi Andy 950 Yep i saw you all had dry conditions. We were hoping for that here but lately we have been having so much rain the mud-monster is lurking arround every bend seeing who he can devour. Will  have to wait for dust and dry roads come winter. Then your rain starts. Well i allways say ride in all conditions and enjoy it while we can, Life is tooooo short for bad coffee.

Thanks to all who made it possible. Awesome day!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to Blazes for the spin on your XR - yip still smiling!!!
Great to have met some new folks, and to see some old faces!

I managed to do 2 land grabs at the circle sand pit.

Andre is a bit disapointed with the broken plastics, but I think he will more glad that no one but me saw him make his name tottie through the splash.
Anyone know where he can get plastic welding done?

Nice one !!

Pitty that I haven't been able to join you for the last couple of weeks  :(

Work has chewed my time over the last couple of weeks - with extra work in the office and trips to Tazania that just don't suit my leisure activities.  Plus with the bike down at the moment - I'm not a "happy camper"  !!

I'll be up and going again soon and will look forward to joining you again.

Blazes, I actually decided to join you on Sat and then overslept. No problem - I phoned Waghond for your number and he did not have it with him. The weather looked a bit crappy out that way - so I gave it a miss
Anyhow - no harm done - next time

Good to see everyone had a good time

Hey Blazes, did Hastalavista keep with tradition and take a dive or two?  >:D

Glad to see there was no rocks, so no problems for Tinus either. >:D

Just joking of course. As you know my approach is different from you guys. When I see an obstacle I go around it, not through it. ;D

Hi Kykdaar. Go arround it ? No man over it. ::) ::) : Hastalavista keeps to his tradition no matter how many times he changes his Forum name. His tradition catches up to him. :D :D

Yes thanks to everyone who made the ride, it was most certainly a great day. Thank also to Blazes for the spin on the XR. I was amazed how stable it was compared to the KLR. being smaller did help, but the knobblies really made a big difference. Either I need another bike for this type of riding or a second set of wheels with knobbelies to change when required!

Toothpick and Tinus - thanks for a great day, and being such great hosts!!!

Thanks also for taking the time, to give us newbies a few lessons, and for lending me the smaller bike.

Blazes - thanks for the spin on the XR...lekker bike!  If I had the money on me, I'd go and buy one right now.

Hey - it does not matter how many times you fall, as long as you get back up again!  (Well, relatively speaking.  At least my lever-guards and indicators don't come off  :) - just the rider every now and then.)

Aussie - next time you must come and join us, for sure!
