As far as I know, they are brand-specific.
There are Trax support brackets available.

Off road + boxes = tears.
Always

not correct.

Many, many riders use TOP boxes off-road - Motorradical, BMW OEM (aluminium boxes), etc.

they have stainless steel racks, with stainless steel bobbins, and are well capable of serious off-road work, when not over-loaded.

Have a customer (and off-road tour operator) who does in excess of off-road 20,000 km per year - no problem whatsoever.

Plastic boxes have no place off-road.
Cheers
Chris

Hi Dave, no, did not come right. Seems a logistical nightmare however to get it here from the UK?

The bracket of my Trax Top box also started to tear by the holes where the bracket is bolted to the bike. I took the bobbins of the bracket and used the bracket as a template to drill holes in my soft luggage plate to fit the bobbins on witch the topbox secures on. Now I have a sturdy bracket for my top box and a easy conversion if I want to use soft luggage.

I quickly made this mod before a trip last weekend. I went through the bike to make sure that everything was OK when I saw that the bracket of the Trax Top Box was cracked.

What you are seeing is typical metal fatigue from FLEXING of the plate.
Strap the top box down with ordinary camlock straps and mute the flexing.
This extends the lifespan of the baseplate.
It is especially the upward flip of the top box after a bump that is restricted.

Metal fatigue brought down a number Comet aircraft in the past.
Those tragedies led to using curved corners to windows.

The plate may not be the problem here. That is not an F 800 GS plate.

Extra holes have been drilled there to make it fit the bike.

That may be a R 1200 GS 2004-2012 plate.

I'm not sure for which bike this plate is. I bought the topbox secondhand and it came from another F800GS. But it makes sense that this plate was for another bike and that the previous owner modified it to fit his F800GS.

I have fitted a Z Technik wind shield, two sets wide footpegs, pannier racks, various small covers, haedlight protection, radiator guards, tank bag and now for a decent bash plate and top box reenforcemdnt bracket. Most items made by TR Tech in Hillcrest at a fraction of ths normal price.
