Title: When did they stop selling/making these bikes?
Post by: Louis Photo on February 05, 2014, 09:44:55 am
My drz400 is a 2011 model according to the registration papers, but i'm sure Suzuki stopped bringing them into the country before that. If it was standing in a showroom or a warehouse for a year or two, Is it still a 2011 model?

Only on ENatis. The system only records the date of first registration and not the year of manufacture. Only in Mzansi ::)

Thus you get plenty of second hand imports which have ENatis dates grossly differing from the year of manufacture.

On lots of vehicles the date of manufacture is coded into the VIN but unfortunately not all vehicles use a standardised system.

On Japanese bikes in original condition you can often determine the year of manufacture from paint schemes & stickers.
