Title: DR650SE bash plates
Post by: lecap on February 26, 2014, 07:43:38 am
I will be making a few more but since the bike has been discontinued it will most likely be the last batch.

They are NOT just a cheap piece of aluminium sheet. Feel free to look for the old thread with the pictures.

It will be the later, fully flex mounted 4mm version.

If you're interested please let me know and I might be able not to end up with just one (yours) too few :D

Price will be R 2,800

They should be ready in about three weeks.

Hopefully next week all will be welded, electroplated (without ugly black spots) and so on.

Sorry about the long wait. Bear in mind I'm not a professional manufacturer but do this on the side.

I have been waiting for a set of handle bar raisers for many weeks. And yes, I have paid.

I reckon a no show/delivery will hurt his business more than it will hurt my pocket!

I will give him 1 more week.

I have bought a lot of stuff from him over the years for my DR 650s. Never had a problem before.

Am disappointed with his current level of service, or lack there off.

The bash plates are getting close to completion.

The handle bar raisers are on my desk. I have to take them to the post office today.

I recently had to deal with very serious things in my life which did require my full attention. I apologise for having to neglect work and business.

Well done le cap

That was not exactly my f...up but a mess caused by a whole seller of one component who kept me in suspense for weeks.
The solution was also mere luck as I managed to find an alternative supplier of the same component.

As soon as I had filed my parts to fit the slightly redesigned ::) sourced components I speed mailed it off.

I am busy collecting all the bits and pieces. Computer time is limited. Sorry I still use a Sonim XP1 and ride a DR650. No smart phone. No fuel injection.

If anything is not ready yet I will at least extort a final delivery date.

Please understand I am not a bash plate manufacturer.
This is running on the side.
And on the side of some major problems too.
My welder burned out his electricity supply last week but he still says the stuff will be ready on Wednesday.

Sorry we did not have the Djebel 200 for long enough to make one.

But I'm kind of tempted since that's the only DS Suzuki left in the SA showrooms.
They should sell lots ??? ::)

I bottomed the 200 out on the suspension lever once or five times. Ouch! The frame cradle also had a couple of gashes :D

The SE (Farm bike) actually has a metal plate between the two bottom engine sub-frame pipes. ;)

The Djebel only has the two sub-frame pipes as "protection". Engine quite vulnerable! :o

I would be interested in a bash plate. Needs to be cheaper than the DR 650's though. Doubt if that will be possible. ???

I would not mind making something especially because the 200 is still sold new.
Agree it would have to be cheaper. No one pays R2,800 for a bash plate on a R34,500 bike :-\

Problem is I would need a DR200 at my workshop loaned for the day probably on two occasions to figure out how to do it nicely and for measurements & fitment tests.

Maybe a DR 200 owner in your vicinity will read this post, and assist! ;)
