Title: The Two Dinosaurs are at it Again (The Sea)
Post by: ALLEN I on March 13, 2014, 08:07:33 pm
The Two Dinosaurs Are At It Again.
                                                                    “The Sea”

Do I need to explain??? Okay okay I will, our asses jukking sommer big time as we haven’t done a trip for a while and we have both (me and Ian (Ian in Great Brak River) being leesing and checking out all of the lekker RR’s and photos  of you ouses trips and goed, and we sommer knew it was that time again, We needed to take the bikes out and do some serious riding and to take photos, and to post the RR, to make you ous jealous and that you sommer want to hop on your bikes and take a trip yourselves.

Not to not make this a boring stuk, a quick summery, get kit ready, make sure bikes are A okay and to make sure we have enough necessities for the road.

This would be a winter trip May 2013 as it was the only time we could both be free from our priorities of the daily grind stone, we would meet each other in Colesburg and decide there where we were going to go as we had a few options to consider.
We had decided to just wing it as we go.
1: Namibia to finish our ride to Upupa falls as it has beaten us 2-0 so we have some unfinished business there. see (The two dinosaurs do Namibia)
2: Go to Botswana and the Northern section of Namibia.
3: The Natal coast through Swaziland all the way up to Eastern Transvaal, (Oop’s Mapulanga) then back to Pretoria.

Now Ian would once again be coming down from Great Brak River, and I would as per usual be coming up from Pretoria. Or is it the other way around? Not quite sure. You ous figger it out.

So Ian’s coming down from Great Brak, he has 700 odd km to do. He decides to do some gravel roads to get to Colesburg. Some photos of his route, lucky bugger was doing gravel most of the way. He was heading for Klaarstroom and then would gooi a right onto the R407 to Willomore turn left for Graaf Reinet for a quick pit stop then via the R63 to Colesburg.

Ian having a blast on the sand roads.

Now ive got about 900km to do to get to Colesburg from Pretoria as I have once again decided that klerksdorp needs to be visited and I will sleep over at my daughter / son in laws possie. I know, I know, for the ous that have read other RR’s of mine, to stop over in Klerksdorp for the night is never a good idea as I have my main club chapter there. Never get to leave the next morning on time. So Klerksdorp it was, my other two rug rats also went down to visit their sussie. Yip didn’t leave on time the next morning as was still suffering from the affects of the previous night visit, and of course had to say bye to a certain lady friend before I took to the road.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/001_zps87b2d1c7.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/001_zps87b2d1c7.jpg.html)

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/001a_zpsd9557729.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/001a_zpsd9557729.jpg.html)

Nothing exciting about my trip to get to Colesburg as I rode tar all the way. Customary ride and stops for smoke breaks, and to have a cold one to sort the head out which was once again not feeling to lekker. For some stupid reason one never learns from some mistakes, but sure is fun making them.(He he)

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/002_zps93e945b5.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/002_zps93e945b5.jpg.html)

So I get to Colesburg and book in at the Coniston House and once again old Ian is not there on time. Kit off bike and put in room. Phone Ian to find out where the bloody hell he is. No Luck, so gather his still cruising and can’t hear his phone. Mmm what to do? Can’t go and “Verken” the joint, have already “Verkend” it, as it’s a normal stop over for” me, us” as we meet there a lot. It’s about half way for both of us. What to do? What to do? Then this “Brilliant” idea comes to me (he he) I must go and check out the local scenery. On the Bike and off I go, stop off in the main road by my normal “watering hole” when in that area for a cold one, whilst I wait for Ian. Now for the ous that don’t know me,{ I like a cold one now and then,} for the ous that do know me {we wont speak about it}.  Next thing a phone call from Ian, his running late. (Nothing unusual about that) think he does it on purpose. So what to do? There just aint any lekker scenery walking around. (he he). Oh well will just have to entertain myself with another cold one or two whilst I wait for him. A hour later I hear a bike and walla its Ian. Quickly order us a cold one each as I know that this china of mine is gonna be lekker dors from his trip to get here. Yip I was right, he sommer takes a moerse sluk and then only does he  greet me with this moerse happy smile on his face. {Dam these cold ones are good stuff) We talk some kak whilst we enjoy our cold ones to wash the dust down. Oops no dust yet on my part, only on Ian’s, but me being the good buddy I am, I support him. “Shame” on me if I didn’t help.

Off to our posie and Ian gets his kit off the bike and into his room. So now that question arises again. What to do? What to do? Well seeing that there aint much else to do,  we decide to go and have a cold one and check out the local scenery. ”The trip has started”.

Big discussion on the go and we finally decide on option 3. The other two we will ride another time.
Out with the maps and a general direction of our ride is made.

Go for a lekker supper, by this time you ous should know, a few could ones to settle the meal off properly.
Off to our possie and a lekker nights kip.

Up early next morning and off we go.
We take a ride to the Garieb dam, next time in that area im gonna camp there as they have some mooi places around there.

Then on the bikes   :ricky:   and off we go to enjoy the ride and to check out what nature has to offer. On the way to Koksstad, we go via Maltero-Ugie-Maclear and some other posies.

A dry river bed, amazing how the water has eroded the sand.

The other side, not a trace of the elements, just a spectacular view of what nature has to offer.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/011_zps420e1601.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/011_zps420e1601.jpg.html)

Getting on to sunset so we have to find a place for the night.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/012_zps1edbfc0a.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/012_zps1edbfc0a.jpg.html)

We do. The 0ld Orchids Guest House. Just outside of Koksstad.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/013a_zpsa5d2afc3.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/013a_zpsa5d2afc3.jpg.html)

For some stupid reason they sorta put us one side, must be a civi thing.
Went into town to find the Spur, For some stupid reason they hide these places away, so I check this police van and I sommer stop him for directions, his sommer a nice ou and tunes us to follow him, we get to the Spur sommer tjop tjop, this ou must of known we was moerse honger, because he was such a lekker ou, I give him a cold one for all of his trouble, told you ous he was a nice ou as he had a lekker big smile on his face when he took it. Have a lekker graze and a cold one or two to wash down the dust. What dust you ask? Come on just because we on tar doesn’t mean there’s no dust in the air and we did pull off onto the side off the road every now and again to have a smoke break, so there had to be dust.

We both had a few close calls with dogs and goats in the bloody road and a bloody idiot with his cage on the wrong side of the road, had to hit breaks to avoid him. Starting to think that riding gravel roads is safer.

So back to rooms and off to sleep.
Some bloody stupid pigeons woke me up at 06h00 not a happy chappie I was. Hell man I hadn’t even had my morning aah” coffee” yet  :bar:

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/014_zps2ce86d8e.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/014_zps2ce86d8e.jpg.html)

Place is a bit frozen, so im forced to have a cupper coffee, followed by a cold one to even out the temperature.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/015_zps682777f4.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/015_zps682777f4.jpg.html)

Hondas can take the punch.

Yammies on the other hand need to be pampered, they even get their cup of morning coffee. (spose it helps to warm the engine up so it can start easier) (He he).  :coffee2:

Now  :ricky:  cruising down the road we come across this sign.   :laughing7:

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/022a_zpsa682d742.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/022a_zpsa682d742.jpg.html)

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/022_zpsd3577dcc.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/022_zpsd3577dcc.jpg.html)

Should we go and visit, tell them we are Tough ous, we are Bikers, we are WD,  should we go and corrupt there minds, tell them all about this lekker cruise we having and that they should bye bikes and take to the lekker open roads and drink cold ones to ease the dors and such other lekker gootes. We decide not too as then all off those ous and gooses are gonna want to cruise with us and like we haven’t got enough cold ones to share with them and I don’t actually dig it when I have to share my cold ones with other ous, except if they have cold ones to share back with me, then its sommer okay.

So we hop on the bikes and gooi the throttles open and cruise with a moerse spoed away from the “temptations” that behold us.  :komet:  Port Edward here we come.

We was cruising along in like a tropical type of jungle scenery, when all of a sudden “woof,” the whole lot changes and all a oak checks is the sea and sommer a different type of environment. Got a moerse skrik as I thought that some space dudes had beamed us up to there planet. (He he)

Now Im a ou that hasent got a problem with this out of the world thingies, but my greatest worry is “Have they got Cold Ones” (He he)   :occasion14:

Now Ian has never been to Port Edward, although there aint that much there, but I know the possie so I take him to the beach front.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/023_zps647b97be.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/023_zps647b97be.jpg.html)

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/23a_zps932b423d.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/23a_zps932b423d.jpg.html)

We take a break and have a cold one and talk some kak as only ous on a bike trip will do.

Mmmm a cold one.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/023b_zps2881b2ab.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/023b_zps2881b2ab.jpg.html)

Ian decides to be a bit different and has a, okay I don’t know what you call it. (A pink drink with lotsa ice in it). He sommer tuned me it was very lekker, some times I worry about this buddy of mine.(he he)

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/023c_zpsfa5b8d01.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/023c_zpsfa5b8d01.jpg.html)

So feeling all refreshed from the cold one and that pink stuff.  We head out for Margate. As I have a family member there. A quick stop to say hi.
Ooops!  Forgot to mention, ive been cruising most of the way without a Speedo, so we stop at a bike shop as I schemed the cable had snapped, Nope it wasn’t the cable, the Speedo gear had kissed out on me. No spares available

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/024_zps48710e54.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/024_zps48710e54.jpg.html)

Oh well cant do any thing about it so we take in the sites and have a lunch and another cold one.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/025_zpsa7c3fb7e.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/025_zpsa7c3fb7e.jpg.html)

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/025a_zps3e49d835.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/025a_zps3e49d835.jpg.html)

Ian had missed the bike week at Margate, but there was still a lot of talk going on and some signs left.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/026_zps449ca287.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/026_zps449ca287.jpg.html)

On the Bikes, and off we go.
We did some site seeing along the road but not worth writing about.

Then I remembered about The Jolly Roger pub, so I had to go and show my face there and have a cold one or two as all this alone riding made me moerse thirsty.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/029_zps74c7d13a.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/029_zps74c7d13a.jpg.html)

A nice photo of the Sea.

Back to the camp site to start with the braai, relax and have a few cold ones.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/031_zps53572044.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/031_zps53572044.jpg.html)

Hondas are tough, getting used as a bloody table.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/032_zps2d097d14.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/032_zps2d097d14.jpg.html)

Mine is so tough it sommer had a cold one. Me thinks the Yammie was a bit jealous. (He he) (Told the Honda not to rub it in as its not the Yammie’s fault that it gets Pampered )

So after a lekker kuier and a good braai, Skaap tjops, wors, Ribbekie and some pita buns, our tummies were lekker full (told you ous im a big eater, well ok Ian also put his share away.) we called it a night and of to zzz land.

Up bright and early the next day pack up, get kit on bikes to take to the roads .

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/033_zps38806616.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/033_zps38806616.jpg.html)

Durban was up next as we were hoping we could get a Speedo drive there, On route as I was following Ian on the highway keeping to his speed. A bloody “idiot” of a traffic officer runs across the road right in front of us causing us to slam on brakes as a cage was speeding and he wanted to stop it. Almost causing us seeing our “gatte” , some ous just aint got no bloody brains or they just plain “dof” No luck in Durbs for a Speedo drive so we took a ride on the beach front and headed off again.

Next stop Richards Bay.
We booked in at the Woodpeckers Inn

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/034_zpsdd422807.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/034_zpsdd422807.jpg.html)

Kit off and we go and have a cold one or two, to settle our nerves from all of the dangers off riding “TAR” ( That’s our story and we sticking to it)

Whilst having a cold one I phone an old friend of my daughter. Mary Lee who stays in Richards Bay,

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/035_zps5027afd8.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/035_zps5027afd8.jpg.html)

She was basically part of the family (the two were insepretable as youngsters) we had not seen each other for a long time. She gets us at the bar at Woodpeckers Inn. Has a few cold ones with us and we catch up on old times, and then she invites us for a Braai and a few cold ones at her house. Now how can I to refuse a couple of cold ones, (as you ous must know by now ( I enjoy a cold one here and there) Oh!! and a Braai ,so off we go to her possie and meet the hubbie and rug rats. Had a lekker kuier and braai and a few cold ones there. Always a nice visit when there’s good company around. Was getting late so we said our good byes and headed off to our rooms to catch up on some good zzz’s.

Title: Re: The Two Dinosaurs are at it Again (The Sea)
Post by: ALLEN I on March 14, 2014, 03:04:26 pm

Next morning we off to St Lucia. The longest distance traveled in one day on this trip, a whole 116km. Dam it was a tiring ride to get there Ian has never been there so I show him the sites. aah!! The Beach and the estuary.

He decided he first had to “verken” the “possie” from up high.
I think he wanted to do some “Bird” watching.(He he )

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/036_zps3053ba71.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/036_zps3053ba71.jpg.html)

Huh! And he didn't even invite me to check out the “Birds” with him, so I scheme to myself, that’s his sommer got a kak ” houden” to want to check out all the “Birds” for him self. So I sommer take a “Trap” back to the bikes, get only me a cold one and take some cool photos and drink the last cold one we had just to spite him.(He he)
The joke was on him as we didn’t check any “Birds”

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/037a_zpsfe6c8bb5.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/037a_zpsfe6c8bb5.jpg.html)

Mmm check out all that aaah “water” and I haven’t even been in it, so off I go and wait for it wait for it, I wet my boots. ( Pretty Cool hey).

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/038_zpsad3865fd.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/038_zpsad3865fd.jpg.html)

Then we off to town to have a lekker lunch and some well needed cold ones. (He he). The days ride was hectic, (116km of it) as well as all that walking on the beach, I mean these things makes a ou moerse dors.

Buy some graze for a lekker braai and some cold ones for relaxation purposes.
We had decided to make use of the caravan park facilities. Pitch tents and set up camp

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/041_zps1e840cc4.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/041_zps1e840cc4.jpg.html)

Dam these bikes are moerse mooi, so I sommer take a few photos of them in the camp site.

Evenings approaching, so we get ready for our braai.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/042_zps2a282568.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/042_zps2a282568.jpg.html)

Check out the (sweet corn) customary.
After the lekker braai we chill out drink some cold ones and talk some more kak and of course some interesting stuff also.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/043_zps4a8f3fc2.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/043_zps4a8f3fc2.jpg.html)

Next morning Ian’s up early as he heard the hippo’s making their hippo sounds and trying to wake up every thing. Not me I was a moeg ou and slept through it.

Ian goes to “verken” the joint and takes some brilliant photos.
What a spectacular sunrise

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/044_zps13c532e5.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/044_zps13c532e5.jpg.html)

Checks out some warning signs on route, but he is not worried, as he is a Dinosaur, a Biker, a Moerse Tough Ou, a WD, so off he traps into the unknown.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/044a_zps269df4e7.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/044a_zps269df4e7.jpg.html)

Finds the big ous which are making the moerse noise.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/044c_zpsa0d01e5e.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/044c_zpsa0d01e5e.jpg.html)

When they checked him there taking photos “he sommer gooid them a evil eye”, and they “Skriked” and kept quite, some of them even went under water just to get away from him. You see the word is getting around in the animal Kingdom about the Two Moerse Strong Dinosaurs.

In 2008 we were on our way to St Lucia in my cage and I blew the head gasket at 01h00 that morning right where you see the lights. (Lady Luck) that it happened where it did.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/046_zpsd2891c6c.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/046_zpsd2891c6c.jpg.html)

Parked the car where the silver cage is and arranged to leave the car there for two days.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/046a_zpsffe8ec0f.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/046a_zpsffe8ec0f.jpg.html)

Phoned the woman friends brother to come and fetch us, there was six of us, two days later went to fetch the car and thanked the owner for looking after it. Towed it to St Lucia where I replaced the head gasket, did not skeem the head, take my hat off  for the old Passat1987 model as she took us back to Pretoria, we used 17lt of oil on the return trip, the whole engine was covered and dripping oil every where. Skeemed the head put her back together and she’s still running with no problems. Now that’s what you call a road trip.

On route to Swaziland. We stop for a aaah smoke break, Ok, ok and a cold one to sort the head out. For some stupid reason it was not lekker (don’t know “Why”).A few pics and we off.

Huh!! Was expecting more, roads are boring, Speed limit in this place is ridiculous, short distances of 60km then 80km then 60km then 100km then back to 60 and so it carried on.

Boring so I pulled out the camera and took some riding photos of Ian cruising on his bike. Ya Ya!! Not very safe but it gave me some thing to do.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/049_zps19540ecf.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/049_zps19540ecf.jpg.html)

Then we stop at this river, can’t find a name anywhere, so we officially have changed its name, it’s now called the Dinosaur River.

Ian Stops to check out the sign and to make sure its what it is. Yip it is.
Now as you ous know we are Dinosaurs, we are bikers, we are moerse tough ous, we are WD, and we aint bang ous, so we go cruise down the road looking for a chance encounter with some lekker wild life, as the sign says. Wild Frontier. Anticipating to come across a Lion or two so I can have a chat with them about his cousins that escaped from Karoo National Park and find out if they ok and how the cubs doing. I was feeling ok, not like on the last trip, the head was sommer feeling a lot better this time.

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/051a_zps00526d9d.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/051a_zps00526d9d.jpg.html)

Yea right, apart from seeing a couple of animals, we did not even get to see any “Cow boys, or Indians”. I mean what type of wild Frontier is this?????

Huh! now I think those cousins of these ous musta tuned them about us two Moerse strong Dinosaurs and they decided they don’t want any part of the two of us and were sommer hiding away and shaking in fear. We did manage too see a giraffe or two as well as some type of animal with big horns. Oh! And some dom kop sleeping in the bush next to the road, huh some ous are just not lekker up there.
Stop off have some lunch and off we go, sorry no pics as it just was not worth taking any, and oh ya we were having some fun dogging the pot holes. Arrive at border post, out and in RSA.

Head for Nelspruit. On route we had stopped at a lot of Honda dealers, so we try our luck again with the hope that they will have a Speedo drive for the Honda, ya right no luck once again, but at least they tune us about a lekker possie down the road and sommer phone them for us and we have a place to kip for the night. Nou’s Toekas Lodge just 5km’s out of town, I buy break pads for the Honda, as every time I hit the brakes they screech just like a girl. “Oops Sorry Ladies”. We off, reach the possie book in kit off, and we quickly change the pads on the AT

(http://i1319.photobucket.com/albums/t675/alleni1996/The%20Sea/052_zps8db1417a.jpg) (http://s1319.photobucket.com/user/alleni1996/media/The%20Sea/052_zps8db1417a.jpg.html)

So off we go to “Verken” the joint. Hell Lady lucks on our side as there’s a bar and restaurant sommer close to our possie. We get us a cold one each, only to have to hear that there’s a wedding going on later and that they can’t supply us with supper, we will have to go to town. Mmm not to chuffed with this as some how the couple who’s getting married forgot sommer to invite us two ous. I mean look at us we are moerse nice ous, “agga” nee man some people.

Off to our rooms where we spit and polish our selves and off we go to town. Find a nice restaurant and  have a lekker big steak and of course a few cold ones, then check out the Mall hoping there some type of night life on the go, no luck, so we head back to our dwellings. Sit out side and check all of these over dressed people whilst having a cold one or two. Must say some of the views were nice. (he he). Off to kip.

On the road bright and early the next morning. Our destination. Graskop via Lydenburg to Pilgrems Rest. We stop every now and again for a smoke and take in the scenery.

We head off for Pietersburg.
We stop and have a smoke break and admire the view.

As we had not done any sand we find a nice little gravel road and go down it hoping it would take us some place. No luck as it runs into a dead end so back to the tar we go.

On the Bikes and cruising down the highway, we Kings of the roads, we’ve got tigers in the tanks etc, im singing this lekker song as we cruise, and then we come to an old Voortrekkerbegraafplaas. We go check it out.

Some thing must have happened in the area in 1848 as there’s a lot of graves dating in and about that time. Maybe some one can shed a light on it.

Then we on route again to Warm Baths (Bela Bela). Book in at the Resort in a small house that sleeps four. So basically we are paying for four people. As its Saturday, I phone my son and daughter and tune them to get there asses over here. They pack, hop in the bakkie and come and join the two old Dinosaurs for the week end.

Me and Ian take a ride and go and “Verken” the joint, have a cold one or two, then we buy some Pizza for supper and go back to the house.
Kids finally get there and we have the Pizza washed down with a few lekker cold ones, we all talk a lot of you know what and then we call it a night.

Next morning we up early but no, not the rug rats, it’s a mission to get them awake.

Lekker one Al. You guys certainly take some good photos which really helps to enjoy the journey with you.
Wandering whether that little 600 of mine is the right bike to do the Nam trip when on the long stretches you dont want to be doing more than 110 / 120 on her.

Bike is no problem cous, shure at places we run at 130/140 on the sand, but they are far and infrequent, read some of the ous RR's theres a lot of ous that do it on smaller bikes. the idea is to get out there and to enjoy the ride and have an experience of a life time.   :ricky:  glad you enjoyed the photies and the ride. A guy takes so many photos that its difficult to decide which ones to use.
