Title: How does SANRAL get my details?
Post by: Berg Man on June 18, 2014, 02:34:17 pm
So I sold a bike and have now been getting e-toll invoices, which I have tossed away. My question is, how did SANRAL get my details? I have never registered on any PayFine or the like.

I have also just received an sms to register within 15 days to qualify for the discount. Where did they get my cell number?

I would just ignore it, but make sure you have some proof that you have sold the bike and that the new owner has signed for it - please don't go to any trouble with Sanral, as we want their data in as much of a mess as possible?

Yes, ownership was changed, but obviously had my plates on for a few days until that was done. So SANRAL has access to e-natis?

They are getting the details somewhere pretty up to date. I bought a new car in April and received two invoices for transactions that I did (not going to pay them) and I have never registered with them.

Believe me, I will be ignoring it. It's just annoying that they have access to my cell number now.

On a side note, my father-in-law passed away in October last year and in sending the car to JHB to be sold, he/we incurred E-tolls in his name. Good luck getting that from him.

Yes, same spelling mistake in the address as my fines and licence renewals.

But he stayes in KZN and etolls in Gauteng...so if the new owner did not do change of owernship, they would get his details from the sytem.

As far as I know they have access to e-natis.
