Title: 690 Long range tank options
Post by: Dwerg on June 27, 2014, 07:19:49 am
Which long range tanks have you got and what is the pricing like? It's almost time to go back to orange and I don't feel like going the full rally kit route but would still like to be able to do longer distances

Oh and I am not too keen on the safari tank. Don't like the look of the bike with it fitted

Gonna go look at a 690 tomorrow with a white rear tank. Looks even worse but if it's easy enough to fit and remove, it might be worth it to just fit it fot longer trips

Are these locally manufactured? Rally Raid lists them for something like 350 pounds

Edgy are they fibre glass or plastic. At least that wont be as restricting on yr legs as the front tank type of design.

Had one on my 690. I really like it - doesn't change the feel of the bike at all, and keeps the front end light for technical work (although some like the extra weight on the front wheel). Alfie sells the Rally Raid one from the UK, and it's 4.5 liters, not 7.

Other options, other than the Safari, are:
But all of these are full rally kits.

Other options, other than the Safari, are:
  • RR Evo 1 - bulky up front - no point, really
  • RR Evo 2 - actually the best priced option - and rally proven - see http://www.lc450dakar.com (http://www.lc450dakar.com)
  • KTM Cape Town Oryx - looks nice but fibreglass tanks which will need repair (great CNC fairing frame, though)
  • KTM Cape Town Oryx Rally Replica - copy of 450 RR - expensive, but best of the bunch using real KTM 450RR rally tanks ex-Austria
  • Omega v1 - a copy of RR Evo 1 in fibreglass - or v2 - pretty copy of 450RR in carbon/kevlar. Personally I'd only buy plastic tanks and their fairing mount isn't as good as KTM CT, even though the fairing itself is carbon/kevlar
  • RR700 - a new kit from an Aussie bunch. Plastic tanks, and pretty high quality looking but not that proven yet http://www.dalbymoto.com.au/adventure/129-ktm700rr-exclusive (http://www.dalbymoto.com.au/adventure/129-ktm700rr-exclusive)
  • Adventure Basel - actually this is the best kit available short of a real 690RR but it's outrageously expensive http://www.ktmbasel.ch/ktm-basel-690-quest-the-ultimate-ultralight-travel-bike.html (http://www.ktmbasel.ch/ktm-basel-690-quest-the-ultimate-ultralight-travel-bike.html)
But all of these are full rally kits.

good list you are missing the Meca system front and rear tanks - made from aluminum:

HI everyone I bought my 690 enduro r today. I saw a 690 with the acesirbis tank in the front, looks like they put the tanks on and the plastics over it.

HI everyone I bought my 690 enduro r today. I saw a 690 with the acesirbis tank in the front, looks like the put the tanks on and the plastics ontop of it. Were can I buy thanks like that first q then I would like to know if I put the omega 1 on can they use the same tanks.

I haven't been able to find dual Acerbis tanks for the 690 anywhere but I think the Omega 1 tanks work the same way I.e. The standard shroud fits over the tank. I mailed them last week but no reply yet.

The Omega 1 tank uses a cap from Acerbis for their tanks. Not sure if Rally raid evo 1 tanks also use there caps. So you saw either one of their tanks
