Title: 690 ER - which road tyres
Post by: Toors on August 18, 2014, 04:18:12 pm
I currently have Pirelli MT21 on my 690 but want to commute with it as well.

What road tyres would you suggest?  With road I mean road not 50/50 etc (I do not mind changing the road tyres with the MT21 before I go play in the gravel  ;)

Michelin Anakee 90/90/21 on the front and probably a Mitas E07 140/80/18 on the rear

Great mileage and good handling - you can brake real hard on the front and throw it around corners with the Anakee

I've still got the stock dual tyres the 690 came with. Good grip on tar and suprisingly good grip on gravel. If purely for commuting, I wouldn't fit a E07. They are terrible in wet weather in my experience

While I'm here, what sort of mileage do you get out of the MT21's and what does a set go for? I'm a bit torn between about 4 sets of knobblies and want to fit a set this weekend. IIRC, the rear I had on my 640 lasted all of 1500km  :eek7:

I actually consider the Mt21s as good road tires...
