Title: 690 Lowering Link questions

Does anybody have one fitted?  How does it affect ground clearance? Handling? Does the side stand need to be shortened?

One more before I just go buy anyway  :sip:

EDIT: Will probably keep the bike as is for Amageza and lower it afterwards so it's a bit more managable for regular use in parking lot's etc

Cool thanks. Their steering damper mount kit is also the cheapest I've seen

Lowers ground clearance
Make it more stable and slower steering unless you pull the forks through the clamps
SS likely needs to be shortened
The more extreme versions cause the wheel to hit the tank under compression

I am looking at the 20mm Kouba link so hopefully that doesn't need too many mods. Rost have good prices but I think the 35mm link is going to be a bit much. Gonna try and pop in there tomorrow anyway because they seem to have even more stuff not listed on the site. Steering damper mount kit is a third of the price quoted by KTM

1019 for the pin assembly and 900 for the bar mount

20mm on a 2014 is the most you should lower.  The Richtersveld leg of Amageza needs some clearance

Did lowering link  on my 450 and the bike was just crap. You need to lower front with back.

Rather get an older  690 endure (or Enduro suspension)  if you want to be lower.

Did the 2012 Amageza with an Enduro and clearance was fine.

Learn to ride like that.

One foot is enough.

Agree one foot is enough but I battle to get my leg over especially with my offroad boots. Not enough movement in the ankle to tip toe when mounting. I will probably still only manage one foot after doing the link. My forum name is not ironic after all  :-[

Like I said, I'll probably only do it after amageza to make the bike a bit more friendly for regular use in town

Ek is ook n Kort gat en my HP het aftermarket suspension en 18" agter rim.
 taught myself to start by putting one foot on the peg and pulling off.
Then I just swing the other  foot over as the bike is moving.
Lyk dalk windgat, maar werk moer goed.
I even do it in sand. The more you do it, the easier it gets.
Even with luggage on the back, no problem
