Title: Touring screen vs screen extender - GSA LC
Post by: Charlie600 on January 28, 2015, 09:11:31 am
Dear dogs.

I've recently acquired my GSA but battle a bit with windnoise etc. when touring (1.91 m tall), which is completely gone if I bend down 4cm or so.

I've as such had a look at either the touratech/wunderlich screen extender or alternatively at the ZTechnik touring screen for the GSA. What I like about the screen extender is the fact that I can remove it when riding off-road or in town whilst I can simply clip it on when touring.

The benefit of the ZTechnik screen is that it is a one size fits all solution whilst my only concern is that it will make the bike even bulkier than what it currently is?

Please let me know your thoughts/experience in this regard.

I'm too lazy to give you all the reasons. In general an aero trim will work better than just a bigger screen, because of the effect of its aero dynamics. But then some people are so tall, that you might need an aero trim on top of a larger screen.

Remember the aero trim cleans up the air coming over the lip of the screen.

Yes, have aerotrim as well - with GIVI no holes to be drilled in existing screen, AEROTRIM you need to drill holes in existing screen

I am using a MRA Vario Touring screen on my GS.  Works wonders.

Can't comment on the GS but I tried a couple of options on my RT including the V-stream.

In the end custom ordered a screen from CeeBaileys in the states. Took a while but I couldn't be happier, I get the protection I want without having to extend the screen at all and its far more quiet than the other options I tried.

I am 2m tall, and fitted the Puig touring screen, and the touratech wind deflector. 👍

Hi Guys,

I have both the Cee Bailey's screen ( http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=163150.0 (http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=163150.0) ) in stock and the Wunderlich SCreen extender which is the pick of the bunch.

I fitted an Aerotrim, no need to drill any holes, supplied with very sticky double sided tape, never had one coming lose, fitted it to all my bike, done some high speeds on my GTR1400 and K1300S.

i have the Wunderlich screen with touratec bracket best move ever.  done over 22 000 kms with it, perfect.

the screen is almost exactly the same size, except at the top it is longer - perfect.

remember do not have the screen on the highest setting - take it to the highest setting and turn back until the screen tilts back slightly- best setting if tall.

and screen can be tilted down on the go, if in town, very hot or off road.

Installed a touring screen on my 990 and hated it.
Put back the standard screen with an Aerotrim and love it!
