I sold my 1200 Gsa last month with the intention of getting a 800 Gsa, but hell man, I can't seem to get over what a nice bike I had. I'm really pissed off with this situation I have put myself in. What makes it worse is the guy that bought it has sent me a few pics and he seems to be the happiest fucker in the world. I've had 2 Gs800's previously and was hoping that the later ones would be that more refined but it doesn't seem so. I'm gonna test ride one soon and see and I hope to be impressed. What I hated about the older 800's was the famous wind buffeting issue, the vibrating at about 150 and the kak seat. Other than that, it suited my requirements. The 1200 on the other hand was awesome in all departments besides my concern in dropping the beast awkwardly on a solo ride. Eish, I'm sommer the moer in writing this post.

You going to love the 800 GSA
PS: the red ones are faster
-
I also have bounced between the 800 & 1200 (GS & GSA)
I am currently on R1200GS LC, at least my feet can reach the ground on the 850mm seat.
Take one for a test
-
why not a ktm 1190 adventure r? or if you can wait the new african twin? Whats wrong with the gas 800?
-
if you are concerned about picking up the f800gsa adventure just install sw motech crash bars and it will pick up just as easy as the r1200gs.
-
oh, and the r1200gs is one of the easiest bikes to pick up
-
Sorry if I'm adding to your misery, but the 800 is going to feel like a donkey after the LC. I get a 800GSA as a loaner every time I take my LC in for service/tyres and the bikes are worlds apart..... :pot:
Like Ekke said, although the 1200 GSA is heavy, it is fairly easy to pick up. I fell and fractured my ankle last year, was still able to pick the bike up on my own.....

If weight is an issue, the normal 12GSLC is lighter.

I can relate to that feeling.....although not from the LC but I know how it feels to have big, strong and smooth and end up with smaller and more argri tipe bike

Ekke. Thanks for trying to help but I've never heard of a Ktm or a Honda.
Noneking. I hear you.

Ride that 1190.
-
Why I suggested the standard LC was because "On the Move" misses the LC Adv so much but said he feared dropping it on a solo ride. The standard GS is basically the same bike but lighter, and a little quicker
-
GS may be lighter, but GSA easier to pick up because of crash bars and panniers frames imho

:sip: OTM do yourself a favor, and test-ride the Tiger XcX, I did that two weeks ago, I am seriously thinking of upgrading from my Xc.
-
On the move. If you can tell us more about your riding style like
-your max speed you like to travel ?
-average kilo you want to travel per day?
-percentage on / off-road you will use your bike for?
-if your off-road is more gravel highway or technical terain?
-will you have a pillion 30% or more of the time?
-do you like the colour orange?
-

Actually had a look at one the other day in the shop and bliksem it's a good looking bike. Wouldn't mind test driving it myself. :thumleft:

:sip: Two things I can query, is the throttle (fly by wire) I feel I don't get the same feedback as I get with the cable, the other one is the hand guards, they are the same one's from the 1200 and does not suit the 800 (far to bulky and clumsy looking) Also, the colours are limited to white, black and Eskom blue. I suppose I can get used to the throttle with time.

Did you try other riding modes? At least that kak stepper motor is out of the way, one thing that annoyed me with the XC When I owned one

Popped in at KTM the other day, doing some homework on behalf of my boet. Around R6k for the 30k service :eek7: :eek7:
Nee wat, I'm too cheapskate for that bike... :pot:

I have had two GS1200L.C,s and have now got myself a GSA Adventure what a bike , my opinion having also had an GS800 the bike to look at now would be the GSA LC
The Adventure looks big and clumsy but ride it
-
Guys. The advice is appreciated but I still feel kak.
-
Treat the symptom...... You need a new GSA..😁

Buy a GSA. This is not rocket science.
