Title: LC timing ("ping")
Post by: Antois on October 16, 2015, 11:53:10 am
I experience much more ping (timing) in afternoons than mornings which is excessive when ambient temperature is above 30˚C, is this normal?

Can also be running too lean, like all the rest of the BMW's. Because of the EU Regulations. I fitted an Accelerator Module (AM4) and that was the end of the hot weather pinging. It richened it up by 6% and the motor runs much smoother now. The mid range flat spot is also gone.

Thanks, my bike was at the agents last week and they have done the remapping but no change. If you are confident that the accelerator module makes a difference then I will try, but with my previous GSA it did not make a significant difference.

Just make sure you don't void your warranty by fitting aftermarket modules

Trust me when I tell you, It works. Best bang for buck mod. Whats also nice about it is that you can unplug it and take your bike in for a service then replace it when you get it back. That way no warranty problems. Its so easy to install and remove.  O0

Go to General Technical and read all of "Install an Accelerator Module" Especially the last post.

I'm so glad you happy now that the "ping" has left your bike. I am very happy with the way my bike runs now too.  ;D

I have rooted mine to the right under the seat according to Roodt’s advice.

Hmmmm, it gets warm there, I tried it. If you ride when the bike has warmed up and you place your fingers under the seat you will feel that the hot air from the radiators feeds through there. The way I have done it in the pics is much better because there is nothing except cool air in front of the bike. Its easy to move it and you will get a better result as well. The cooler that probe is the richer the mixture, the better the result.  O0

Wat is die am nou . Wa kry jy hom

Its called an Accelerator Module and you get it from Roodt in Cape Town. 021 556 2313   WEST COAST PARTS. R1,180.00 including VAT. (Delivered its R1,279.00)

Firstly, ALL BMW's come from the factory set way too lean to accomodate the EU Emmision Restrictions. This causes the bike to run badly because its too lean.

What the unit basically does is richen up your acceleration cycle on the fuel injection and makes the bike so much better and easier to ride. I have had great success with mine.

This is the Accelerator Module with the BMW plugs. This is where it plugs in. Just 2 connections.

The AM for the previous module is exactly the same as for the LC, I removed mine from the older one and fit on the LC.

Fitted the booster plug from my pervious bike (09) to my LC.  I cannot feel a marked difference.  Possibly a slightly smoother idle.
