Title: te610 side stand
Post by: saklx650c on November 11, 2015, 06:31:32 am
Anyone know of a replacement side stand for 610.  Mine broke, had it fixed but broke again.  Really thin steel that is used.  August 2016 from agents. :thumleft:

IIRC I welded a solid rod inside mine at the weak point.

Probably the best solution is to fit a TE 630 Aluminium sidestand. It needs to be modified slightly at the stop to make it stand out more, but mine has been a treat. Also strenghtened the original one twice, but the 630 one is a much better solution. And it is lighter.

Availability and price?

Available and not that expensive--see some Husky spare prices have dropped since the spares are being managed properly
even with the euro being so strong.
Call Shanna at sales at Bikers warehouse for a prices

Agree - I use the 630 one. I think I took some meat off the stop on the frame lug to allow it to extend further forwards when down.  :thumleft:

If I recall the 630 sidestand was around R2k and it came with all the paraphenalia. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

I did a CAD model of a new "head" for a side stand which needs to be machined out of mild steel or even aluminium.

Its designed so that it will fit into a standard 25x1.6mm tube.  That is plenty strong enough and still nice and light.

See the attachment for more details

Ok, I missed Alan's design ar ordered a 630 stand.  First question, have I received the correct part.  Secondly the angles seem different.  What mods are required?

If I remember correctly I ground  bit of the metal off the stop on the tang on the frame so that it would position a little further forward when down. You can do tho gradually whiteout springs attached until satisfied. This angle gives the bike a bit more stability when on the side stand. You can also shim the hinge with thin washers (fibre or teflon if you can get) as there is often some wear there. :thumleft:

:thumleft: I have now ordered all the other bits to go with the stand. When it all arrives, I will start modifcations.

Exactly like BD says, you can also remove some metal on the stand then you are not modifying the frame.
