Looks as good as new!

Must be one of the last imported, with that colour?

If it's mint, it might be worth up to R 55k! They are becoming very scarce! Quite a number of extras, but that crash bar...no!

I already have one, but wouldn't mind a newer model!

I would pay max R 45k for it, without the tank. Will keep my IMS!

Six DR's and 182000 km later and I have not experienced ONE problem. NOT ONE.
You must be the unluckiest guy out there.

There were a batch of inferior gear sets from China, affecting a small number of DRs, with only one case in SA. 🙀

Must have been Ganjora's DR.😔

she got the same amount of love and attention that all my bikes get.
cannot buy another sazook...
that said,  xr650r trumps everything,  and the sazook was part of the journey there.

Believe it or not,  yes.
Throttle and steering not as 'twitchy'.

Starting the reassembly of the SM610 tomorrow.

Once done it will be fun to do a side by side roll-on dice between the two. I can even do it by myself if I use a GPS and do the exact same test. See what the accelaration / top speed is over a relatively short distance whilst the bikes are still accelarating.

If this one is as quick as the other SM, I'm expecting a close "dual"!

How does the XRR feel, in comparison to the other SM?

That is why it is going to be so interesting. The pig probably makes more torque, but the SM can really pull.

Only a real world dice will give the answer ;D

(Eet, slaap etc)
Laat my weet wanneer julle wil kom kuier.

Cheers
Hardy

Hardy (and any other DR Doggzz)

With your experience with DR's - any idea why a DR would pop out of second gear ( it's a bike I'm thinking of buying...?). Would a worn chain/sprocket be responsible?

Any ideas?

Ruffian

I have heard of third gear problems with a batch of DR's that ended up in the US, but never of anything in 2nd gear.
Kykdaar & Chopperpilot can probably help here.

PM Superfoxi on the matter.

A DR650 which jumps out of second gear points towards either a bent or badly worn left rear selector fork, a badly worn selector fork groove in the fourth driven gear (yes fourth!!!) or a badly worn dog clutch between fourth driven and second driven gear.
It could posibly also bae a problem with the selector drum.

I don't think it has anything to do with the claw which turns the selector drum. (This would be the only part of the gear change mechansism which is serviceable without a full engine disassembly.) A problem with the claw would usuaaly show with gears which don't engage and false neutrals but it would not be limited to only one (second) gear.

The bike jumping out of second gear has absolutely and most definitely diddly squat to do with the drive chain and sprockets.

Indeed. I get that sense...that response oozes authority.

I am awed and grateful.

Now, I have got to decide whether the bike is worth buying...
