Post by: abnormaload on October 17, 2016, 08:53:58 pm
Can get my hands on a 2012 Honda XR650L, 23000 km on the clock, long range fuel tank, rear luggage rack. Bike is in immaculate condition. R45k! Any comments?

Terrible bike! Avoid at all costs. Seat too high and drinks oil by the gallon. I don't know what Honda engineers were thinking when they designed the bike in the early '90's but it somehow managed to stick around until the present day. It's a kak bike and very highly un-recommended - I would never buy another one in my lifetime but then I'm still stuck with one for life. 23K km sounds OK-ish @45K ZAR, make sure you throw some oil at it every other ride and it will last a lifetime. Shitloads better than an orange (lemon) 690 too.

You won't regret - excellent bikes!!!  :thumleft:
Just make sure the jetting has been corrected - standard too lean - with filter WAY too lean - even more so with pipe too!!!

My son was quite happy with his until the frame disintergrated.
I was impressed by the motor but have lost all faith in the "weak" frame.

If you can get it for R40K, take it, and enjoy it!
