Title: the KTM 690/RADE GARAGE under-seat tank is ready for shipment...
Post by: zebra - Flying Brick on February 24, 2017, 09:43:01 am
the KTM 690/RADE GARAGE under-seat tank is ready.

I will be bringing 10 (minimum order) of these in, in a MIXTURE of KTM 690 (and Husky 701)....I will be taking 50% deposits BEFORE any shipping takes place.I need to ship 10 at a time, both for RADE, and for actual shipping, since shipping empty fuel tanks is an expensive VOLUMETRIC exercise!

Their EURO price is Euro 359.We will bring them in for R5999 for the FULL kit, which comprises:ONCE I HIT A MIX OF 10 KTM 690/HUSKY 701 tanks, with deposits, I will bring them in - they have promised me 7 days shipping from date of order - allow another full 7 days to clear customs, etc.

GO!

How much extra fuel can be carried with the underseat tank?

Chris, was there any remapping needed and did the character of the engine change without the airbox (I would guess that airbox does affect the intake quite a bit and is there for a reason)? And what is the noise level - did it get significantly louder?

I have asked all 3 owners for a report, and will post their feedback here:

1 of the bikes is brand new, so unless owner had a previous 690, there will be no comparison...
the other two, we will have requested feedback.

bikes sounded the same before/after installation, according to the fitting technician...
he idled the bike for 5 minutes, etc, without touching throttle...
there is an electronic sensor that passes into the cone filter, which he re-installed, which I suspect will adjust/read air/fuel mixture...

So I will post feedback here when known - great questions, Xpat!

Yes, but it comes PRE-drilled...

The cone filter is PRE-drilled, drilled for the sensor, and then also drilled to take a U-bracket that clamps the sensor in place.

(see attched pictures...)

This is a great idea. If I did not have a Rally Raid kit on my bike this would have been my 1st priority to buy. The range on the standard  tank is just not enough.
Can the air filter kit be bought separately?

I have not had a request for the air filter kit (separately), but I guess it could be sourced LOCALLY (K&N filter, then small filter which goes onto oil-breather-vent, etc)?
In any case, will be bringing in another shipment, IF you want, I could include the additional parts.
Cheers!

update; 10 under-seat tanks sold, now bringing in say another 6 under-seat fuel tanks; 2 of which are spoken for, please put your name down HERE if you wish to order an underseat-tank; will be ordering in later this week....

please note:
tanks can take 4 weeks - and longer - to arrive..., they come from Europe...
tanks are ordered on a 50% deposit basis...
we are planning/hoping to MAINTAIN the R5999 price, but there MAY be an increase to R6499 for this shipment.

Feedback from customers so far is that they are very happy with the tank, and the setup generally!

Cheers

"Hello Chris!
if he wants (included):

- brackets
- tubes
- petcock
- filters
- connection to the main tank

excluded:
- the tank
- fuel cap
- the tank gas outflow
Then the price is 199EUR including the delivery.

Thanks Rade"

OK, so I think you could SAVE on some shipping costs by sharing shipping with the next 6 -10 tanks I bring in, but you need to pay 14% VAT, and I have not put any mark-up on this lot - yet!, but start by adding 14%, and do your sums...!

Hi Chris, Thanks for the effort but at the current exchange rate it is just too expensive for me

all good, I thought as much, the value of the whole bundle (R5999) seemed good, but buying it separately not so much!

Is the installation something that needs to be done instore? Or can one do it at home. I would very much like to have one of these tanks, but I live in Potch and am unable to get down to CT.

It's pretty straight - forward, and there are good instructions, my fitment guys fit in around 45 minutes/1 hour.
We just OFFER it in-store, since we have the fitment center - but yes, you can certainly fit it at home.

This seems like a good alternative for the range issue. My question though is the replacement of the modified airfilter to allow for the sensor. Do you have to import this every time or is this modified version available in South Africa and at what price?

1. the Air-filter IS available locally - unsure of price - anyone have a rough idea?
2. it would only need 3 SMALL holes drilling in the collar/base of the air-filer (screw + sensor hole + screw)
>3. THE AIR-FILTER IS WASHABLE, SO NO NEED TO REPLACE USUALLY...>4. THE K&n AIR-FILTER IN ANY CASE COMES SUPPLIED WITH A WASHABLE COVER, SO AGAIN, NO NEED TO REPLACE!
Hope that helps, Chris & Team

Do you supply the airfilter system as a stand alone, without the aux tank?

Yes, we have ONE K& N cone filter in stock, that goes direct onto the throttle body - you would just need to drill 3 small holes into the nylon housing, the middle one for the O2 sensor, and two little bolts to keep it in place - see the pic below where I point to it with a pen...

this cone is SPENDY - just be aware - at R1080, and that price is REDUCED!
Cheers, Chris & Team

Rooi Wolf, just remember that the Twin air sponge filter was the latest upgrade to the tank kit. It previously shipped with the K&N filter, then they changed the design to the Twin Air filter. I am not sure if you can buy the Twin Air filter and airbox separately from the tank kit from Rade. Chris?
