Title: Lito's Fish and Flower Ride
Post by: droffarc on August 07, 2006, 09:44:49 pm
At great expense - especially of frustration and angst because my home internet connection is sooooooooo ssssllllllooooowwwwww - litteraly blood, sweat and tears

I present to you some of the pics taken on the Lito flower run we did on Sunday.
At the meeting place MadAl, I forget his name, Leon and Nicole:

Lookin for some florals Madal's back (no not from darkest Africa)

S lekka by die see

and here is our combined entry for Wino's wonderful competition. He did say in the rules that iether your bike or part of your bike must be in the pic. Well no part of Lito's beast would detach so we detached my saddle so he and Hilde could frolick in the flowers and still qualify for the competition  :D

My personal favourite, although there is no part of my bike in the pics so I wont qualify for the competition:

After an expensive (R70.00) plate of fision chirps - I dont think I will be riding with Lito again - he has expensive tastes, I made off to the Cape Columbine Lighthouse ( yes I have done many of the passes AND many of the lighthouses KiLeRsa!) I allowed the TA to frolic in the flowertjies by the beach before setting off for Home.

But I could not resist the temptation of a little gravel so I made a turn at the Hoogwater Bush Pub - not that I did any business with them you see.

Thanks Droffie,

That was really nice to see the pics - I really enjoyed your report on your wiki site.

The resolution in the photos is quite low, are you able to send the original high resolution ones?

It brings back some great memories of that day, the sharks, the flowers, the scenery. That house with the bricks - myself and Hilde also gave it the big thumbs down.

I am super glad you took a piccie of the Saldanha Steel factory, I wanted one.

Did you go down all the way to Tiettiesbaai? WOW that place is stunning stunning stunning. I reckon we must make a weekend of it and go and camp. Perfect perfect perfection.

Thanks Phil. I had a great ride that day, and it certainly is one for the books. Cheers  8)  8)

ps: the route: - from West Beach - > West Coast National Park - > Kraalbaai - > Outlook Point in WCNP - > Langebaan - > Vredenburg - > Paternoster - > TiettiesBaai -> and this is where the group split up.

We went on to check the flowers on at V something - > St Helena Bay - > Shelley Point (new development for rich) - > dirt road linking to Vredenburg from StHelena Bay (highly recommended) - > retrace route to West Beach.

pps: That little restaurant is a 107 year old ex Fishermans cottage on the beach. Tremendous setting and nice place. The food - wasnt great, took 1hr10minutes to get there, and was pitiful on the plate - R70 for a small piece of fish and some very mediocre chips. And some of us got the wrong fish to boot.

I spoke to the Manager who didnt seem duly concerned. Fleecing tourists to Paternoster is his way it seems, and I for one recommend going elsewhere. The places name is Voorshuis op die Strand (something like it).  There is NO value for money at this place.

ppps: Group: Phil, Leon, Malcolm, Goose, Hilde and Myself.

Would like to see the flowers as well, not the same when you see them on tv.

How about a places NOT to visit section on the forum? This would be a perfect example. Or would that be considered too negative?
