Right bring on the weekend! My ribs are very tender and fitness is almost non-existent so there won't be much "racing" but I'm going to try and make it to the time bar

Ja but we could end up with lotsa dust AND deep mud.

Correct. I think there were some mud holes last year. I wasn't there.

FYI - The Bronkhorstspruit 32km run is also being held tomorrow. They start, 06h00 and finish at the Highschool, the R25 is part of their route.
So this may, or may not result in added traffic.
-
Well - that was an eye opener!!!!!
I didn't realise how un-bikefit I've become. It's been 2 months since I've been on the bike and I nearly died yesterday. About half way through the third lap I ran outta puff.
But, it was a lekker course, fast and flowing. The first 5 or 10 kays were bumpy but after that it was just gravy ..................... :thumleft:
Now to get ready for the next one .............. how to get fit without actually doing anything?
-
Yeah those first 10 kays were really intense physically. Not good for unfit guys like us. I could do the first part of the lap at my pace but then had to slow down for a lot to be able to complete the laps. My body is hurting today!
-
Man it was fun!
Agreed, damn I'm unfit. For me, the first third of the lap moered me hard, then I tried to recover in the second third and then tried to race the last third.
But I'm happy, I managed to finish three laps without incident. :ricky: :thumleft:
-
I went there , wow , what a big entry . . . fantastic weather for cross country racing after the previous nights rain . . .
Could only find the WDers that were at the TRAX setup . . .
I had a enjoyable ride there and back with BZN, my trusty R80G/S . . .
Good luck with the next one . . .

A happy Wild Dog . . .

Race 2 ended bad for my son. 7km into the first lap his engine seized. Was in the top 3 at that stage.
Let's hope the next race goes better.
Any other results from those that raced?

Ag shit, bad luck.
I didn't race, but heard there was some serious hoops and muddy bits.
-
Hoops? ........................ man, that is an understatement .......... they were never ending. Remember the old-style chicken runs on MX tracks? It was like that.
They must have ploughed those fields years ago, ready for planting but never did it. Millions of little bumps ......................... loosened up all your muscles chop-chop. I first rode them relatively slowly but that was a nightmare. Speed was the answer but then you had to brake and turn as well. Had me a couple tank-slappers on those bumps.
Luckily, the rest of the loop was relatively smooth with some serious long straights to get your breath back. I managed 4 laps, which is a first for me, but I am really stiff today and I've got a couple blisters from those hoops.
AND I got stung by a bee ......... no biggee, I'm not allergic, so I just left it to keep stinging me while I rode. Big mistake!!! My arm puffed up and I spent the night in bed scratching and feeling lousy, sick. Can you become allergic if you've never been before?
Besides your son, serf, there were a helluva lotta bikes broken down. A LOT more than normal and 99.9% of them were KTMs.
And he was in for a top 3 finish? It must be heart-breaking when that happens. Especially when you break down, stuck out there in the middle of nowhere, waiting for a recovery.
This time I used a friend's CRF250X coz my KLX450 has a con-rod issue. I missed the power but once I got used to it, it was a lekker bike to ride. A lot lighter and more nimble than my 450, but then, a KLX is a bit of a tank anyway, not really a race bike. It was the first Honda I've ridden in decades and I was impressed, definately a bike I'd consider if I was in the market again.

He is in the 85 senior group and the top 3 finished very closely to one another so it was not a given that he would gave a good finish. At about 1.7 and 65kg he is just to big now for a 85 but to young for high school class. He can move to the 125 class in July.
We went riding yesterday and he kicked my @$$ riding a 300 and 350. I was on the 500. The reality is that I am too slow to keep up

I'm dirt bike-less at the moment so no GXCC for me. Should be a muddy one but I'd take that over the insane dust at the Feb Bronkies race any day

Yes, yes you can, ask me, I know. :eek7:
After about 6 stings over a period of about 3 years, I am now allergic and always need to travel with HEAVY anti-histamine pills.
-
Sputnik080 , I went through the same path , both racing and just advriding,
I now always carry a EPiPen , an adrenaline auto-injector with me together with anti-hisamine pills.
Get one, it could be a life saver . . .ask me . . .
-
Was a lekker race yesterday, one of the best I've done in a long time.
No whoops .................. what a pleasure. It was very fast but had a good mix of everything.
And yes, there was mud ........... quite a bit. Not much of that deep stuff that you can get stuck in but it threw you all over the place. that black soil is really nice to ride when it's damp with lots of grip and no dust. But when it's black mud, best you watch out!!
Yet again, a huge field. Which makes it lekker. There's always someone to race.
The next one's in July ............. one helluva wait ............I'm gonna get unfit again ::)

Go on, buy that 350. I just serviced mine. Wow what a nice piece of engineering :drif:
-
Yep, if I was buying again, that 350 would be top of my list.
It just feels so light and nimble compared to my 450 ............. something I need more and more as I get nearer to old age.

My race was good but finished where I normall do ............ ::)
It was a tough track but had a bit of everything in it. I was shattered driving home and slept for 12 hours straight that night .............. oh, to be young again !!!
-
Good stuff Cracker - huge respect to you, bud. :thumleft:
-
Well done Cracker, at least you stepped up to the plate and gave it a shot 👍🏼 Did you race the KLX? :thumleft:
-
Oh yes ........ it's all I have. It's well suited to this open, fast racing. A bit of a handfull in the slow, tight twisty stuff, it doesn't like turning very much
Not a race winning machine at all but it just goes and goes and goes .............................. I've passed hundreds of KTMs broken down in the veld over the years but haven't had the 'pleasure' myself.
Would be a good Tankwa weapon but I can't make it this year - just can't afford a week away. :'(
For those who wanna do a race, there's one coming up on the 8th at the Vaal. No license required. Similar setup to GXCC.
