Title: Top Box Advice
Post by: Miracle_Salad on April 03, 2018, 05:29:03 pm
Hey Wild Dogs.

So im in the market for a Top Box, frighteningly expensive jobbies these, but I am starting to need the extra luggage capacity, a bag is just not cutting it anymore.

Which brands should I stay away from and what would be a good recommendation? I was looking at the motorradical ones because they dont need a plate, they just clip on or something, are these safe options(IE: can someone easily unlock/remove the box)?

The other option was the Givi trekker 42l, those also look really nice.

Any advice is appreciated.

Have a 2017 1200 LC Trophy

I bought the Motorradical box couple of months ago. Liked the price. Good quality. Sits nice and tight on the bike (GSA LC). It feels a bit heavier than my old Trax box, but the Trax box had stupid adapter plates, ie, more weight. So the end result is the same in weight, i guess. No complaints about my Motorradical box thus far!  Regards, Langasem

I sell Motorradical, so you can treat my advice any which way you Ďreadí it!

Motorradical needs an adaptor plates for nearly ALL bikes EXCLUDING the GSA L/C, where it hooks into the OEM STAINLESS luggage rack.

The m/r box was heavily redesigned 3-4 months back, so lots of improved features, amongst which improved dust/water-proofing, and DOUBLE locking mechanism top the list.

The wall-thickness is indeed thicker than the TRAX boxes, an advantage when it comes to avoiding internal denting, which the earlier Trax lids were known for, the have since improved the structure of the Trax lids using reinforced ribbing.

The m/r has one of the strongest adaptor plates of ALL top boxes on the market, tubular stainless steel.

Pop in and Iíll walk you through all the pros/cons and options.

I recently got a motoradical top box for my LC and after some pretty bumpy dirt roads and lots of rain over the weekend, I must say I'm very impressed for the price I paid!!  :ricky:

Got my top box and mounting plate from Flying Brick today, thanks guys very happy with it, however will need to pop in Monday morning because for some reason the mounting plate holes dont line up with the bracket holes, I followed the guide downloaded from the motorradical website to the T, and it just makes no sense. The pictures are either outdated or they forgot to include more lol! So bummed I cant use it for my ride tomorrow!

Really hoping for a helpful hand :D

Hi Salad!
Glad we could help you 1st thing this morning!
The 'trick' - if there is one - is to tighten all bolts little-by-little, since tightening initial bolts and only then tightening other bolts can cause an alignment issue, and these top box adapters are built to tight tolerances! But great we could speedily assist you, and thanks for the support!
