Title: KTM640 Adv electrics fault
Post by: Njaf Njaf on June 01, 2018, 01:24:14 pm
Why does my Rev counter drop while riding if I switch on my lights, flickers and brights.
I loose power on the battery and need to kickstart.
Got somewhere an electrical fault.
Any advise where to start.

Mine aslo had similar issues ended up finding 5 shorts where the wires rubbed trough caused by vibration, most of the issues were up front under the dash

I had similar twice. First time it was a loose bolt on the flywheel that wiped out the magneto. Second time the wires from the magneto to the rectifier/regulator touched the exhaust, melted the insulation and shorted.

Thanks for all the info.
I started at the front and found a lot of open wires due to vibration. Busy fixing all then will continue trouble shooting if the problem is not solved.
