The Plan -

This is the first long trip for SWAMBO, so planning was done properly to have everything in place, tools and spares the works.... Roads loaded on the Zumo,  staying as far away from the N1/N9 and as much gravel as possible...

Day 1 - Pta through Clarens to Ficksburg
Day 2 - Ficksburg to Gariep (Camping)
Day 3 - Gariep to Nieu-Bethesda
Day 4 - Nieu-Bethesda - Mosselbay
Day 5 - Mosselbay - Gamkaskloof/Die Hel (Camping)

The execution -

Day 1 - Started with great excitement
d then....

Wheel bearing collapsed at the Petrus Steyn turn off....

THE END......

Agree, luckily still went to The Hell, with a bakkie. Down at the camping site a Jeep broke down due to electronics, was an automatic, could not even open his boot.... There I realized I was happy it happened where it did...

I'm sorry, but that was very funny writing!

How does SWAMBO feel about another motorbike trip?

Truly a bummer, very glad you got to go anyway.

An electronic breakdown is the worst! My car once stood for about 3 weeks, I forgot to disconnect the battery. Electronics dead, can't open anything. Saving grace was the back windows were still manual. The breakdown guy brought along his small daughter, macgyvered the window down, and pushed the child through with the instruction to manually open bonnet. Makes you wish you could still open a car with half a tennis ball :o

Interesting thing though: my current car is all electronics, but it has a doorlock which can be opened with the car keys. Didn't the Jeep have something similar?
