Title: Durban Northern Suburbs Bike Security Question
Post by: Retailer on January 11, 2019, 12:58:53 pm
Hi All, will be staying in Umhlanga at a holiday flat for 2 weeks and wanted to take the 1200 GSa with for doing a couple of day trips from there. I am a bit concerned leaving the bike outside. The complex has an electric gate but no security and the lockable Garage assigned to the unit is not behind the gate but easily accesible from the street.
I have an alarm disc lock and suppose I can chain the bike to something, like my ca ;Dr.
Any thoughts or comments will be highly appreciated!

you did say ANY thoughts...!

The disk lock with the IN-BUILT alarm is useful for parking bikes on pavements etc where Joe public has 'access' to mess with the bike...

Usually, if you say touch the handlebars, the disk-lock alarm give 3 LOUD beeps.
touch it again, 3 more LOUD beeps...

again, and it screams blue-bloody-murder...!

Sold a lot for this very reason, and we have a round -the world traveler - Uwe Schmidt, who uses it in most countries - reckons it is REAL protection.
He often uses a COVER and his screamer lock, so someone peeking under the cover gets a hell of a fright! Alarm lasts 3 - 5 minutes...

Cheers
Chris

Thanks Chris for the reply, yes I must say the disc lock with alarm is a lot of protection for the money. The cover is also a good idea.
Thanks a lot for your reply.
