Title: Registering/de registering a motorcycle for export
Post by: Guido on February 09, 2019, 05:16:58 am
Greetings all,

I am in the process of exporting a motorcycle from South Africa, one of the requirements is the enatis registration /de registration form. Anyone have any experience doing this. Do they mean the registration document prior to de registration, followed by the de registration confirmation? Secondly, it is required to have data dot fitted, none of my vehicles have ever had this. Is it visible at all? Where on a bike would they put it?

I exported my super 10 in 2016.

It had to have data dot fitted.
Police clearance.
You do not do the eNatis de-registration, this is done at the point of exit/export.
Also, ITAC is not needed for motorcycle (just for info)

Thanks for the response 0012, I have the list of documents required by the Hong Kong  transport department, and ags four winds, the import/export handling agent. They do not mention ITAC, excuse my ignorance, what exactly is ITAC?

0012 got that one..... - ITAC = International Trade Administration Commission, responsible for Im-/Export permits. Just make sure you have everything to the dot for the importation on the other side. If you slip up, the bike may "sit" in the receiving country, until you got everything together. that could trigger a shitload of extra costs.
Good luck.

I'm in the process of sending a 1978 Ducati to Holland with no papers. Bike was built up for classic racing by my late step father and has been sold off to a close friend there. Courier just want police clearance on our side to prove it's not stolen.

Thanks for the responses everyone, I have a list from the hk department of transport, and have most of it.  Out of interest sake, how long did the police clearance take to obtain?
