I spilled some superglue on my headlight protector.
Any idea how to get it off without damage to the plastic?
-
they say acetone, but not sure what that would do to the protector?
maybe just let it soak in water for a day (or two)
-
Nope, only acetone and it will ruin the protector.
-
Should add, if its Perspex/plastic, you can toss it. If its polycarb it can be polished again.
-
Thanks, google say soak it in soapy water?

Maybe with different superglues. If its propper cynoacrolade I doubt
-
just for interest sakes, what were you doing with super glue in that area?

As Gérrard pointed out correctly, acetone will damage the protector. From my own experiences what I found works best is to treat / soak the applicable surface with mentholated spirits / alcohol and then to scratch what you can off with your finger nails. Repeat until all is off what you can scratch off with your finger nails. Then I polish the residue out with brasso (or whatever you prefer it that line).

I know on skin you just put more glue on it (seems to make it liquid again) and wipe it off.... not sure if it applies here as well....
