malaria. Twice. Left my bike in Lagos. Went back a year later and bought a defender for 1500 dollars, put the bike on the back, then drove back to cape town in 33 days. Now i am trying again: made it to douala after 2 months, currently in cape town sourcing spares and selling bike (15grand at tim's). Back next week to tackle north and west africa...

Shit, sorry to hear about the Malaria - that sucks man! Glad to hear you still kicking.

Strength for your next attempt. Look forward to your RR.

Good luck!

I'm back in South Africa, for a few months, did West Africa in the Landy, but had a major accident in Benin Republic - rolled the landy twice at 80km/h... broke a rib, but continued after some quick fixes to the Landy (used rear side window as windscreen) until Western Sahara (another 4000km) and now the Landy is getting fixed up nicely (new body and sprayed Orange)...
Next trip Europe and possibly Asia in October...
