Title: Ganjora down...........
Post by: Operator on July 11, 2019, 08:12:20 am
Dave was on his new 690 motard yesterday afternoon when he was hit by a car on the corner of William Nicol and Peter Place.

He's got multiple injuries and is currently in ICU.

Dont have a lot of info yet, but will post later in the day, after I've spoken to his wife again.

I've seen a couple bike accidents at that intersection and go through there fairly often.  I'm trying to figure out why it's a bad one for bikes though.

Possibly the timing on the lights? I've seen that drivers seem to be more impatient there.

Good luck to Ganjora! Get well soon.

Or because many seem to not care about a light being red or the green arrow that has stopped flashing. I was very close to being taken out this morning like this. Thank goodness i saw the fucker and I didnt pull away quickly or a second earlier, and that my bike has damn good brakes and that the guy behind me didnt rear end me etc etc.

Anyway hope you have a speedy recovery Dave.

So far it looks like he's got about 7 broken ribs and punctured lung and a broken collarbone.

There might be more injuries but they are for now focusing on the punctured lung as it the biggest and
most critical injury

He is still sedated and in a lot of pain.

Belinda said that she will give updates to me, and I will post it here.....

Went riding today and thought about how I was impressed when Ganjaman got his new bike after being bike-less for a while and the enthusiasm he showed riding again - now many broken ribs and a broken leg..... :'(   would love to know what actually happened?

I've had a bad 'off', but nothing broken, and wonder if I would ride again with his situation?

Heal well and I hope the pain is manageable Ganjaman, and looking forward to read some of his wonderful 'chirps' soon again

At this stage the biggest problem is the punctured lung.  Dont think they can operate on his leg etc if he cannot
breath properly, and anesthetic would probably not be an option.

Fcuk...hope the man heals up well.
Barr the broken leg, its a carbon copy of a recent injury list for me and I lay in the same ICU.I hope he gets Goldstein as his ortho, good oke

As noted, that lung is gonna be a bitch and it will most likely have a drain installed....if u haven't had to watch that thing being removed from your chest, I can assure u its a touch scary.

Never nice to hear a fellow WD down...in my thoughts

Do you know if he has a chest tube fitted to relief the pressure? It can take anything from a couple of days to two weeks depending on the severity of the damage to heal and that hurts like a bitch!

Dave is doing a bit better now.....

The broken leg is not so bad.  No need to operate. Most probably going to be wearing a moonboot to heal up.

The collorbone is still under discussion, but they are still focussing on the punctured lung as a priority.

Still got a drainage pipe in and as most people with experience will tell you, this is very "eina" and each breath that you
take is filled with pain..................but the doctors are positive that things starting to look slowly better.

Still in ICU and not ready to see visitors. Only direct family.

Not trying to be insensitive, but do we know how it happened?

As far as we understand he was turning off William Nicol  onto Peter Place when a Subaru that was on the side of the road, started up and proceeded to make a u turn in front of Dave.
This is the rough description. Still need more details......

Ahoy motherfuckers!
Happy to report i am still hard to kill.

I was on william nicol, turned westward (left) onto peter place.
Single lane in my direction next to jaguar.
Vehicle exited jag, stopped, as he went past i continued, 30m later car travelling in same direction executed a u- turn with no warning.
Bam and down.
Like all motorcycle accidents IT WAS MY FAULT AS THE BIKER.
We know the risk and still take it..
5 broken ribson the 1 side, and 2 on the other- flail chest.
Far from ideal, but with so many quality hospitals around, not a train smash.

. Thank you Operator. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
And thank you  again.
As usual way beyond wildest dreams or expectations.

Thanks for all the good wishes guys.
I am so grateful that i will even accept them from my arian buddy Oom Danie.
By the way, my nurse is black, and i didn't get a hard on during my bed bath.
Does this make me gay or a racial supremasist?

Forget about me losing the bike Welsh.
There will, no doubt, be compromise.

Fuck, I just logged on this evening here in the USA, it's already Sunday morning over there, saw the thread and my blood went cold.

Read through it from the top, and was mightily relieved to see that Dave is doing ok-ish. A flail chest is a motherfucker, makes breathing very difficult until sorted out. I'll not go into the dynamics of it all here, but I'm guessing that Dave was very lucky not to get intubated on the scene.

Well if you're still getting some, the face cant be that bad. But surely the ribs must be putting a temporary damper on it.  :eek7:

If I can be honest, physically, I am doing better than most thought possible.
Mentally things are a lot iffy...
It seems I got a proper concussion in the accident.
Emotionally I am all over the place, and I am struggling with really simple stuff.
I am extremely difficult, argumentative, aggressive, etc etc.
Then 5 mins later I am blubbing like a baby.
My short term memory has gone for a ball of shit, and that makes me even more angry/sad depending on where my emotions are for that 5 mins.

In more positive news:
My wife, who tried to ban me from getting another bike, must be experiencing the biggest "I told you so" of her life!!! Go babe, ride that wave to the beach.
I am home again - haven't seen my daughter for 10 days.
I set a new personal record with 10 days in hospital, of which 9 was in trauma ICU!!!
Netcare Sunninghill is a simply brilliant hospital, with doctors, nurses, radiologist, kitchen staff, cleaning staff & security guards from heaven.
The above mentioned people are paid far too little for their work and dedication.
A leatt brace may have saved a broken collar bone, but then again it might have provided the pivot point for a proper brachial plexus injury.
As the vulture attorneys calls come in I will be making careful notes in order to report the motherfuckers to the legal practice council for touting.
Although the craving to smoke (any/everything) has been very strong, I have not, and will not.
I am halfway through preparation to bake some dagga bran muffins tomorrow morning, and they will help massively with the pain.
People who ask you to rate pain between 1 & 10 are morons. The real pain starts at about 15 and I don't think anyone where is ends. There always seems to be more available.
A proper smart phone, quality headphones, and a massive data contract should not be a privilege, they are a right.
Most of the people i have said 'fuck you' to, I meant it.
Will be buying an 18/21 set of rims for the bike. Not sure they will be used, but they will buy some time from the nagging.
More than likely there's a little run about car on the horizon.

The first 3 days after op I would close my eyes and see horrible monster images which only disappeared when I opened them again.

I once saw a BMW, that's how bad it got. :peepwall:

But seriously, I really saw the monsters, it was an obvious after-effect of the drugs administered during and directly after the op.

The body may be 46 years old, but it doesn't think so.
The healing done just this weekend has been unbelievable.
When my good mate Paulie came over on Friday I took some liberties with his 2 full power hands.
We put a bankie (25g) through a sieve and cooked up a batch of medicine.
I roll massive king-size joints, so probably get about 25 - 30 out of a bankie.
Obviously when smoked more than 50% disappears in smoke blown by the wind.
25g zol, 1/2 block of salted butter, bring to the boil.
Pour everything ( yes the powdered zol too) into a Tupperware, and put in the fridge.
I divided the cooled product into 12 blocks.
So double content per block vs a joint.
Furthermore, with ingestion there is not waste.
So these babies are (conservatively by my measure) about 4 times stronger than a joint.
Their schedule 5 stuff works well, but lasts for shorter periods, and constipates me terribly.

The drugs, oh the drugs...
It's been an hour and 5 mins after my morning meds.
Mine, not theirs.
Read the insert in the painkiller box.
Fuck.

Won't do that again...
I fried a block of black butter.
Whole-wheat toast with tomato, cheese, black butter
Dudes, I have recently returned from their version of treatment, and it nearly killed me.
I hope like fuck none of you get sick, not even you oom Danie, because surviving them takes everything you have...

Edit: predictive text makes me sound much nicer than I am.

Dave, glad you are semi-okay, and to use your words: "CONGRATULATIONS! YOU SURVIVED!"

Take it easy with the concussion. Its about 8 weeks of chill before you normalize. Try not to be too serious if that helps.

@big oil (welcome back btw): He already told us about his leatt. Read the thread :deal:

Dave is being released from hospital, so his recovery is really going well.  :thumleft:

Oh my, how did I miss it?  :laughing4:

Were you wearing any Leatt products  :sip:

 :pot:

Leatt designs nice products, I'm not a fan of their neck brace.  >:D

A Leatt neck brace is a gimmick, a quick way to become a Paraplegic or Quadriplegic or dead.

Just my .02

But, especially when you get older, and the old legs become stiff, those Leatt's would make a nice little portable toilet seat.

Because....

Eating has a different neurological effect than smoking it... Joe Rogan, "When you eat [marijuana], it's processed by your liver and it produces something called 11-Hydroxy metabolite. That's five times more psychoactive than THC ... and it lets you talk to dolphins."

Eating the same amount gets you soooo much higher for longer and there's that psychoactive element because the liver is involved and metabolises the THC into that 11 thingymabob and it's got a lot more oomph.

Google 11-Hydroxy metabolite

stupid question - but how do you eat it and how much?  pits?

stupid question - but how do you eat it and how much?  pits?

I'm not sure about there, over here, in my state (Michigan) and Colorado, there are all kinds of different edibles.

How much depends on the person.  Some freak out and become paranoid eating edibles.

Some users don't like the 'Head High' from smoking, they prefer a 'Body Buzz'.

Body Buzz = no pain.

Because of my age, my doctor will not prescribe pharmaceuticals derived from Opiates to me.

Therefore, my only choice is weed and it's the best choice for me for pain management.

It just works for me with few negative side-effects, except it makes me a little ornery sometimes, lol, when I need to smoke, makes me have a short fuse for people talking out of their ass and fascism.  Any time I'm body buzzing, no pain and couldn't give 2 shits what some idiot says.

Mags website will give you an idea on what is offered in the edible form.  https://www.maggiesfarmmarijuana.com/edibles/

I'm guessing you'd prefer the Sour Gummy or Pucker treats because they have to be sucked on and chewed.  I should have conveyed that statement differently, I didn't mean it how it sounds,  my point was it's more convenient to use the chewable edibles in an office environment.

Generally boiled slowly in butter or oil to release the 'goodness' and then strained through a sieve to separate the gaggas(pips & stalks), infused butter/oil is then used to bake etc.

Make tea add a small amount of butter to assist the THC extraction, crush it up pretty fine and make brownies, muffins etc. it has to be heated between 100-180 degrees C if I can remember correctly if you eat it without going through the heat cycle it has no effect.

Here is a link that explains it.  https://www.cannabischeri.com/mary-jane/learning/marijuana-decarboxylation/

I am lazy.
My preparation just gives zol in butter suspension.
It still needs to be cooked for the heat to release the pychoactive part.
1 wedge of butter in the pan. Fry till the butter goes black.
Mop up butter with bread, and give it an hour.
After about then you will feel the tickle at the back of your brain.
That's when you know it's working.

Not as accurate as a joint, in that delivery time need to be on into account.
Very pleasant.
Colours more vivid.
The day is brighter with more and better possibilities.
Tedious, stupid people are more tolerable, and you are a nicer person.
Conventional Muti has its place, but so too has zol.

Not true about having no effect if not heated. I ate many a sandwich with a (moms coffee grinder) fine ground raw and it worked just fine.  you need the heat to release the THC into the oil.

All is well.
Was at Sunninghill yesterday, and have officially been released from doctors orders.
Today is exactly 3 weeks since the accident.
Broken bones obviously still restrict movement and comfort, but a bit of discomfort after all the pain is acceptable.
Have been off their meds since before they ran out, which is great. Don't like pills and potions.
Am still off work and will probably only go back next week.
Am able to smoke, but am only smoking marijuana.
Took the wonderful opportunity and quit tobacco.
Every day is a bit easier than the last, which is awesome.
My moods etc are a lot better than they were, and as a couple of posters mentioned more than likely a bad reaction to all the meds I was on.
