Title: Die nuwe Katana is hier?
Post by: Altie7deLaan on July 21, 2019, 06:40:49 pm
Couple of shops advertising the new Katana, at 186k.
Anybody seen it/rode it/own it?
The write ups looks overall good so far.

I am so keen. Bout same price here.

Only thing holding me back is a 1000 cc is overkill here. If it was a 600 or 750 I would have it already.

I am not fond of it, but the original was always going to be difficult to retro-fit.

The original was king of the crop when it was launched, now it's got the 2005 engine in. :xxbah:

But, at least this way it is more affordable.

Don't really like it - the compromise to  clone the Kat look and produce a comfortable, modern retro didn't hit the mark for me.Unlike the Z from Kawa, which is spot on.

the z900rs looks amazing, no doubt.

the original katana was so well received, and today one of the favorite bikes to customize, plenty of models running around with widened rims or more modern ends.
i have always been fascinated by the original, never rode one but it will probably be ghastly, compared to modern stuff.
and yet, in the day, real men wheeled that long wheel base kat like there was no tomorrow.
I also recall 2SD telling me about a guy he knew who could powerslide that kat at will, and at crazy speeds.

I think it looks great and the designers have done the model justice

My own cousin, Stefan, he rode the hell out of that big Kat.

BTW, here is one bike with genuine legend value, the old Katana's.

I saw one this past Sunday at Cullinan. I must say I like the bike.  :thumleft:
