Title: Extended bash plate question
Post by: Heimer on December 11, 2019, 01:50:26 pm
I can get hold of a bashplate as in the picture. I see it has two more mounting holes at the rear, where the catalytic converter resides.

I don't have such a mounting bracket.

Would it be ok to fit only on the 4 standard holes?

My concern is that the rear part might vibrate or place strain on the 4 standard mounting bolts if the rear part is not also secured to the bike

I have heard there is a type of bracket the bolts onto the frame above the catalytic converter but have no ideas what it looks like or where to source one.

Any advice? Ok to use without or absolutely must have it fitted?

Maybe get a bracket made?

Also - make sure the plate fits your model - I had a bash plate on my 2010 GSA, but the plate did not fit a 2009 or earlier due to the shape of the header section, something rubbed.....

Kyk mooi daai bracket mag dalk daar wees.

I also have one of these bash plates that I got without the rear bracket.
I found some pics on the net and then made my own.
I have photos of my completed brackets, but can't find them.
Here's a photo of the left side installed, hope it helps.
