Title: DuToitskloof pass. A question.
Post by: JacquesM on March 17, 2020, 10:26:41 pm
Purely from an interest point of view.

I sometimes go over the pass early in the morning, when it's still dark.

At the hairpin bend on the Paarl side, there's usually quite a lot of cars parked. People seem to be walking around the area, some of them wearing clothes that could be related to something like a religion.

Anyone knows what these guys are there for?

For souls? :peepwall:

I have never seen religious activity there, but yes, lots of fly-fishing, and hiking.

as well as the usual local natives culture of parking under a tree, eating KFC, drinking black label quarts, pissing in the streams, taking naps in the cars and leaving all the rubbish behind.  :xxbah:

If it's the parking just before, and just after the bridge in the hairpin bend, yes I have seen the cloak and dagger religious gather to, I assume, go baptise in the stream below.

Mostly I believe it to be hikers, and some fishermen.

I have always wondered whether their cars are not broken into there?

They are similar to the religious group who congregate in white outfits at the river near the Berkley road/Maitland turnoff on the M5. They are not from ZA.

It's starting to make sense.

They seem determined in a way - (not like fishermen) ;)

It seems peculiar that they gather there when it's still dark in the morning.

I just wonder why that specific place.

This is where the cars are parked, on both sides of the road.

Sometimes there are many cars and people, asking for caution while passing.
