Late model 640 ADV, just love the look of these bikes. Good suspension, big tank and decent power. Rode one once and was amazed how easily it handled the rough stuff.

I'm with you on a 640, since hi technology is really not my thing.I scouted for a good one some time ago, but was put off by some horror stories of engine failures and expensive rebuilds.Remains an impressive, very capable, light bike  :thumleft:

I heard this but even my 660 is vibey at 120km/h, reckon if one sticks to dirt mostly should better ?

Had one before going bigger - wish I could have afforded both bikes at the time. I would get another one......no doubt about it.

Was also concerned over all the vibration stories, but to be honest I never experienced anything uncomfortable. Awesome bike.

It was purely on (unavoidable) tar that I didn't always enjoy the ride!

I wanted to buy one once but a mate of mine convinced me that they vibrate to much . I should have bought one because what I have researched they are very capable.

I was looking for one last year, but bought a XR650L instead.  They vibrate about the same amount on tar.  Both bikes shine on gravel.

No the chain sits on the other side. A GS 650 Rotax motor also won't work as it doesn't fit in the frame cradle.

Treat it like a big dirtbike and re-build the engine every 50 000km. I also wouldn't mind one for shorter more technical adv rides, but I think an adventurised KTM 500 is now the king in that arena

It's a love or hate bike. Very few people who've ridden it are on the fence. I loved mine and it was dead reliable. Sold it with around 50k on the clock and I regret it to this day

I think the lack of balancer shaft caused the engine to vibrate itself mortoe

I think it was a big bearing behind the clutch basket, but not at all sure.  :sip:

I would also love one.

It just ticks all the boxes of a one-up adventure bike. Straight out of the box.

You are right, forgot about that.  That will make it quite a big job.

 :thumleft: Just needs the 640's comfy seat and bigger tank. Without costing any extra or gaining any weight.

I had one,
Did Malawi, Lesotho and all over.

Eventually sold it to Malibu and she also loved it,
