Title: Southern Namibian Trip
Post by: Norman walker on June 30, 2020, 08:58:26 pm
Hi Guys

I'm doing a 10 day trip through the south of Namibia. I don't have a set route but would like to to the following.
Sesriem - Aus
Aus - Luderitz
Ludertitz - Orangemund
Oranjemund- Ais Ais
Ais Ais - Fish River Canyon
Fish River Canyon - Keetmanshoops

Then I'll be heading to Windhoek for a few days. Is there anything along the way that you think is worth stopping for or making a detour to visit?

Thanks guys for any input.

Duwiseb Castle.
Waterpoint for the wild horses near Aus.
Luderitz-Kolmanskoppe.

So you riding to Luderitz and then back to Aus then to Rosh Pinah and then Oranjemund and then back to Rosh Pinah? There is no route open between Luderitz and Oranjemund along the coast.

If you are comfortable riding sand, then take the D707 from Beta to Aus. Stunning scenery

On the Oranjemund- Ais Ais leg, drive through the Gamkap river valley, awesome scenery.

Be prepared for cold around Aus. D707 is beautiful and a lot less corrigated than the long way around, but as stated above, sandy. If the wind is blowing, skip Luderitz, its not fun riding in that sand storm and camping at Shark Island is misserable then.
I'm jealous! Love southern Namibia. Damn virus!
