Saw this earlier from my riding WA group, interesting, seems we will be getting smaller and hopefully lighter Adv bikes as many riders have been asking for.

If it looks like this, then hell yeah!!(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200710/4518694ae2b04ced2e7ae4c1d4aaea19.jpg)

Don't know how excited I am about a low capacity p-twin as a DS platform
-
I, for one, is kark excited!!!
-
I just don't see benefits over a single. It's probably going to be heavier and have less low grunt. It's unlikely to be cheaper either
-
A twin is by nature very much smoother and hence far more comfortable on the open road....obviously with a weight penalty though
-
Probably only for 2022 YM

Absolutely! More weight and less low-down torque. And low-end torque is exactly why I love smaller, light singles.
Now you have a twin with less low-down torque, yet ti still cannot cruise nowhere near as well as a big bike.
Lose-lose.

Exactly. Take the Honda CB500X as an example. A 690 will run circles around it power wise. The latest 690 will run with (probably outrun) a 800GS everywhere except top end and it's actually quite a fair bit smoother.
But you never know, maybe they pull another belter out, maybe another one for the indian market. We'll have to wait and see.
-
Modern 500cc twin will surely be smoother on open sections vs a single but I too would prefer a single for the tighter off road stuff. Honda 500cc Rally with 45hp would be my ideal bike.

Is dit hoekom my stok ou XR 600R so goed is? :peepwall:

The Kawasaki KLE 500 was a lekke twin in that size Danie. OK no racer but good reliable engine.

Ja but quite pap torque wise, I had one. Think it revved past 10 000rpm

Ktm is not stupid, its only their bikes that break
Im sure they'll adapt whatever to have low down torque
-
That 390 single in the current KTM is a very nice motor but they should have offered it with spoke wheels (21/18) and updated the suspension travel.

That may be so but it will still be here before the T7 >:D

A change in government will also before a T7 reach these shores

One instance where I'll happily wait longer for the T7.

Had they done that, that bike would be standing in my garage.... even just spoked wheels. But I get where KTM is going whith the 390 Adventure. Good for them.

It will look like Fat Albert with a bicycle stuck in his arse cheeks.
-
I reckon the 490 Adv will be a runaway success, even when it will come with cast wheels (which will be swapped by many then)!
It's big enough (don't think the 390 is...) for "further", and it'll be light enough for difficult stuff :thumleft:

True Burpie, I also think so. But then, its only in our older age that we realise weight is everything...
