Title: XR Fundi
Post by: steveindar on July 21, 2021, 09:58:40 am
Hi All, I picked up a non running XR250 from work with the idea of fixing it up and using it around the estates. I stripped open the motor and saw the piston had hit the valves and bent them, hence the locked motor. I haven't gone any deeper yet but the head will need fixing, new valve guides, valves, lapping etc.
Who in Gauteng can handle this? I would have to send the head from Tanzania so everything will take time.
Normally I would handle this myself, slowly accumulating parts etc, but I know that would end up a very lengthy process. Still want to use the bike before the mud season.
Contact me on w/a. +255 seven sex seven 081 eight 85
Thanks
Steve

Digging deeper, reason for piston hitting valves. Remains of the camchain guide. Chain must have jumped a tooth or three! Damn mango tree fundis! We have a saying here, 'we'll fix what your fundi repaired'. Damn!(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210722/ecaa3ef2ad151a0cc3b492b70e72683f.jpg)
