Title: African Championships Trial
Post by: GRIM on September 08, 2009, 10:04:11 am
The African championship trial will be on this Sunday just otherside of Magaliesberg. Entrance is free, and from what I've heard the sections are spectacular. Riding starts at 10:00, and the guys should start finishing around 1 or 2 ish, depending on the length of the lap.

Co-ords are
S26.016236
E27.500113

The Zambians that entered were Enduro riders and none finished.
So much for Africa Champs.

And it was won by B Le Riche, who would have guessed ;)

Were any other countries besides Zambia represented at the event?

Unfortunately not.
Apparently there are 4 trials bikes in Zambia in total.

The event was pretty good though, some guys came through from Natal and the Cape to compete.
The sections were amazing and the bits between the sections rivalled any enduro outride.

I struggled with some sections and will be working on crossing big ass logs lying at an angle in front of me with a 2m off camber runup ;)

ps, I came stone last of the finishers, but my finishers medal is exactly the same as the guy who came 4th (at least I finished)
Trials is a funny beast, the margin of error is so small, I got a 5 for lifting my hand off the bars to move a branch that had pinned my brake lever while my foot was on the ground.
The difference between me and the rider above me.

EVERY point counts.
In Intermediate there were 4x people on the same point total, it went down to clears.
Also 2 riders on the same points, same clears that went down to 5's!

So a really well contested event.

Awesome

My first competition begining this year was also close, first beat me by 1 point and we tied for second also went to cleans and I ended in 3rd.

Second event I managed a win with second one point behind and third 3 points of the leader. Amazing how tight it can be. What makes it even more competative is that we ride together every weekend.

Taking about big ass logs, one of our favorite spots got hit by "working for water" in the last few weeks.......... ahh i love those guys. Every weekend there are new sections they have made for us  :imaposer:
