OMG this is beyond sad - absolutely terrible :'(
-
They had too much to drink. The guy wanted to take a girl for a spin just after 2 this morning. When she didn't want to get onto the bike, her friend wanted to go with and when they told het she should put on a helmet that was in the one guy's car,she apparently didn't want to.He wore a helmet as far as i know, but even that didn't help. The bike took out a chevron board from the side (I think he wheelied into the board because there's no brake marks on the gravel either).
-
Shit. That's bad.
RIP
-
RIP x2.
I'm sad but a little angry to.

What has happened is very sad, but lets not judge after the fact please. We did not walk in his shoes. People make mistakes.
He has been having a tough time it seems.
Hi all,
I bought my bike not 3 months ago, and now i have to sell it.
If you are interested, please give me a call before my divorce :( is final otherwise i may lose all of this as well.
Cheers
John
Lets rather learn from the unfortunate event and let him rest in peace.

Dit is regtig tragies en totaal onnodig.
Ek is van Mosselbaai, as iemand kan uitvind van reelings kan ons miskien paar mense bymekaar maak.
Het nie die persoon geken nie, maar sal graag iets wil doen indien moontlik.
-
I am very sad to hear this. R.I.P x 2
-
Eish.......what a bad year. RIP
-
Seems it is Agent Orange yes.
Piston Pete that guy on the Photo is not A.O. That's Flatspin. All you KTM okes look the same. I mixed them up as both are on 990's and from M/bay. Sorry about the mixup. Wrong pic.
Still A.O. though. RIP.

Agent Orange's signature:
Far better it is to dare mighty things, even though chequered by failure, than to forever dwell in that perpetual light that knows not victory nor defeat!

Ride the skyways RIP.

Very tragic and unnecessary :'(
RIP and all condolences to the families
-
Terrible news - the deaths and the way. RIP AO and condolences to all who knew them.
-
RIP AO. Sad to hear!!!
-
RIP.
-
As stated by TR, I can confirm that Agent Orange is not the guy in the picture. That is FlatSpin whom I just (like in 20 minutes ago) had a ride with to George.
Had an invite to do a trip with AO a couple of weeks ago, but couldnt make it. My Lady works at the hospital, I'll see what I can find out.
Sincere condolences.
RIP
-
This is just way too crazy and so sad. RIP

Saw the bike this morning.
Brand new and now it is all broken and bent.
Sad my friends. Very sad :'(
-
Hi all,
To confirm AO was tragically killed in an accident this week. He was a good friend and we did a few trips together. The passenger was killed instantly and AO died later in hospital, no helmets were worn. At this stage not much more is known (incl by the police) - tragedy for all involved, please pay your respects by wearing helmets and riding safely.
RIP buddy
-
Crispy, sounds like you are close? Wanna let us in on the funeral arrangement so we we can do a ride?
-
Family in PE on the way, will let you know.
-
Dit is so hartseer en onnodig..... :'(

Same, .... very sad news :(
-
Very sad to hear. RIP
-
What scares me the most is having to go when intoxicated... It's almost like an intoxicated person committing suicide... Which happened to a friend of mine.... Do you know what you doing? Obviously semi... But sh!t it sucks >:(
-
I see a lot of assumptions being made and dont quite know whether it is the right thing to do. I heard last night that the accident happened on the N2. Why would someone not wear a helmet while travelling from one point to another? Was it really a case of fooling around on the bike?
Is there anyone who can give us the correct information of what happened where?
-
Not on the N2 BR.
In Stillbay town itself.
-
Dam :'(

The how and why at this stage isn't as important as the fact that it did happen.
Strength to the family.
:(

I never met AO. Very very sad though to hear this.
Will be praying for the loved ones who have to deal with their loss.

Rip. Very Sad.

RIP and very very sad.
There is much speculation as to the cause of the accident however it will not alter this tragedy.
AO's mother, Rose, is a family friend and part of the local community where I stay. Not an easy time for her but we are all here for her now and in the future.

RIP and strength to the family members that are left behind.

Some information from the TB forum from someone who spoke to the family:
Quote:
Stilbaai accident 8 Dec 2009
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With reference to my post Ryer en pillion op Stilbaai on 9 Dec, I obtained the following information from Claudia's parents. This post is not to be seen as an apportionment of blame but rather as a warning to how easily and quickly things can go very wrong and end in tragedy. I spoke to Claudia's parents on the evening of 9 Dec and her dad requested me to post the details.
Claudia and the rider (Agent Orange from Mossel Bay according to the WD forum) were in a pub in Stilbaai on Monday night. Apparently he wasn't much of a drinker but he had at least 2 brandies and a couple of shooters that night. Claudia also had a few drinks and according to her dad she was a bit of a speed freak. They also haven't known each other before.
At some stage in the early hours of Tuesday morning he took his bike keys to go and show her his bike, a fairly new KTM 990. The idea was only to show her the bike and they didn't take helmets or any other form of ATGATT. Nobody heard them leaving with the bike either, but there was a black rubber mark on the tar where the bike was parked.
Estimates are that they hit a chevron at about 200 km/h. The chevron was taken out of the ground with it's pole. The bike must have ramped from there and finally came to rest about 25m further towards the river. Their bodies were about another 25m further on.
They both had severe head wounds. Claudia must have died on impact, the rider later in the Bayview clinic in Mossel bay.
Basic TB guidelines that weren't followed:
* Bottle and throttle don't mix
* ATGATT
* Ride at a safe speed
and something often seen on the forum, perhaps a bit harsh under the circumstances:
* If you show off you are going to fall off
Other possible contributing factors:
* The rider had only a learner's licence (rumour however has it that he has been riding for a while without a licence)
* The learner's licence was issued on 13 Aug 2009, thus very recently.
* The KTM was almost brand new, so the rider may perhaps not have been completely familiar with the bike
As a matter of interest, Claudia's dad used to ride regularly (commuting about 42 km) until recently when he sold his bike and she used to ride only with him.

As so many of you have said, this is really sad and whatever happened out there is past and we can't change it but we can each learn from it. We have all made it OUR choice to ride bikes and we know that something similar could happen to any one of us at any time - it comes with the territory! So, lets wear our helmets and the other gear available to us and most importantly, let Jesus be your saviour and friend.
My humblest condolences to both families.

The family would certainly not mind and IMHO would be touched by it
