If it sounds too good to be true . . . . . . . . . . . .
-
Sounds like the gumtree scam?
-
sounds like a grey importer. all's well until something breaks and the local KTM boys tell you where to go...

Why would they turn away any business?
Honda, Suzuki, etc dont have issues with grey imports

well 90k vs 140k = 50k is a lot of money to pay just for dealer support
i'll buy a brand new 990 at 90k without warranty if its legit :-\
-
but then again i'll believe it when i see it

Imagine the cost structure of a shop the likes of KTM Cape Town,If you dont make profits or provision for warranties you will close your door's FAST.

My sentiments exactly. At 90 pops I'll take the risk. But apparently they have warranty. But I can't beleive KTM SA would allow this, but then again how can they stop it.
But no KTM dealer will turn business away.It sounds as if the person involved use to work for Katoom. If they get it right "cheers to them"At least someone fighting inflation.

If it sounds too good to be true . . . . . . . . . . . .
Until I see it with my own eyes.
I wonder if you would be able to finance such a bike?

if they do the effort to import it i'm sure they would do the effort to get the finance approved
if you can finance crappy f*cked up cars they sell on voortrekker road you should be able to finance anything :-\
-
I've also heard this from a few okes, yet to see the bikes though, sound like a crock of shit, I'm sure it's possible but would like to see with my own eyes first. I wouldn't mind a 950SE cheap.
-
Buy a Goose toob for R 90 150 and get a bike for free :pot:
-
I know someone who is in the process of acquiring such a bike.
Apparantly the bikes are at Durban harbour at the moment with Customs.
Around 90-something k for the 990R, and 60-something for a 950SE!
Problem is you have to pay cash before it is ordered, no finance.
My concern would be back-up support and then of course nobody knows what will happen with regards to Customs and import duties and of course E-natis registration? ???
I will have my reservations on this until I see the bike before my very own eyes though...
-
I think there will be a que of Dawgs cash in hand.Lets hope it works and they have ducks in a row.Should not be problem with registering it .......unless it is a left hand drive :imaposer:
-
when the first dog has one and can confirm all these rumors we might just have a huge rush
but there is a old saying
if it sounds to good to be true it probably is to good to be true
these bikes will come from EU - ie. euro's and the rand is not strong against the euro
if it was harleys i could believe it cause the dollar is so k@k at the moment :-\
-
A couple of yeras back there used to be a dealer near Cresta here in Jhb (I think it was called Cayenne Sport or something to that effect) that had a whole bunch of KTM's that they brought in, they sold them at a much cheaper price and the KTM SA guys nailed the buyers when they wanted spares >:(
Now what happens if I decide to buy a KTM while I'm traveling around Europe and ride it back to SA, are they going to give me the same amount of grief because it isn't an official KTM SA bike? Honda used to be #@%$ing irritating with spare parts and VIN numbers having to be provided but I see that they've stopped their kark
-
O ye of little faith.Go pay the FULL price then ;)

Tell your mate to be very careful! My stepdad didnt listen to me and also did this deal with 2 blasters...expensive exercise it was indeed. All was legit and bikes were in the harbou. All you had to do was pay upfront so that they could be released but then the guy couldnt deliver and he got sued and- and- and .........YOU NEVER GET YOUR MONEY BACK.

Thats the strange thing, apparently it is stock from KTM USA, thats why the prices are so low...
There might be some truth to the left hand drive theory then! >:D :imaposer:
Only time will tell if this is indeed too good to be true...

Everyone has their doubts, but he seems to be willing to take that chance.
Lets hope that he does not need to write it off as school fees...
I have heard of businesses bringing in second hand bikes by the container succesfully, only to be left with nothing after the third or fourth shipment. :-\

Why grey KTM's weren't a good idea (http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=2227.msg28846#msg28846)

that VIN thing is so easy to get past
just go on the internet and search which VIN were assigned to South Africa
or use your buddy's VIN number or write down the VIN number from the bike thats parked at the mall or airport
-
Interesting reading
Funny that these things remain hush hush.
For R60k I would buy an SE now. But no contact detail?
I would however never give money to someone who I don't know without any guarantee.
-
If you can't see it ... don't buy it!
-
Honda used to be #@%$ing irritating with spare parts and VIN numbers having to be provided but I see that they've stopped their kark
Because Honda Japan told them to stop nitpicking and sell spares! >:D
-
If you can't see it ... don't buy it!
personally i wont fork out 90k cash to some bloke that you know from nowhere - has no dealership - no setup - nothing
tomorrow he is gone with your money and then everyone will say "are you stupid or what giving some oke that you dont know almost 100k cash"
-

Jip ... rather give to a lawyer to put in trust ... then provide securities to seller. But cash...? ... it's going to hurt ... :BangHead:

Generally not , we have to provide proof that the bikes we finance for customers are not grey imports before the finance is approved.
-
I see the manufacturers recommended selling price in the US for the SE is $13200 or about R100 000. It will be pretty difficult for someone to source a new bike there, pay for shipping it over here, add a profit and sell it for R60 000.
-
Who ever is selling these bikes, please pm me. I will pay cash on delivery (delivery only) !!!!
-
we still have not seen any proof or anyone that said "I bought one and its a bargain" ???
sounding more and more like a gumtree scam :-\
-

Could it be in the same vein as Triumph SA's last selling of container damaged bikes.
Thanks for the heads up on that one.
NOT.
-
I say bring in the grey imports. We are being bent over barrels by the likes of KTM SA.
Take the Price of eg. Scorpion tyres. Two years ago pricing went up to about R2000.00. The reason we were fed is the "The exchange Rate". Someone took initiative and brought in Heidenau at half the price. Raai wat! You can now buy Scorps at less than a thousand rand from KTM.( and they're still making a profit).
How is it possible that I can land KTM OE products in SA from USA (KTM Twins) Cheaper and quicker than I can get it from my local KTM dealer?
I'm not blaming the dealer, I reacon the shafting is done by the top structure.
Put me down for a 950SE
-
Even R60k is an expensive lesson...
-
At 90k I will take the R. :D
-
Here's a number for you guys and gals. Gerald 041 581 0638.
-
Well, I have seen a new 990R with my own eyes last night. R105k final price. :drif:
Warranty (2years) honoured by KTM, and bike PDI'ed by a SA KTM shop!
Are we being shafted by KTM SA?
I also have a name and number if you are interested.
-
:thumleft: pm me the contact details please

-
Jonna ,maar ek sien ek het julle baie opgewonde the maak.Die boys will net besigheid doen. :ricky:
-
Also saw the bike and spoke to the guy. Everything is legit. If you can buy it show the money; if you dont have the money or you are not interrested stop moaning and giving these kak comments!!!
-
Why is everybody so secretive?
Especially those that have a contact or seen a bike?
Why not post the details here?
-
Oh gosh look everybody we've upset ktm corporaal :pot:
-
Plonker. Gooi bietjie meer inligting asb. Ek is seker ek vra namens baie ouens. Groot ASB?

-
if this was legit they would try to sell as many as they can - business is business :mwink:

Why ? Would you like to greet him in a dark alley with a wrench? :peepwall:
-
Has anyone phoned Gerald yet?
I only saw this thread now and is too late to phone.
Put me down for a 990R. :thumleft:
-
this is not motorbike related, but still relevant. I paid R50,000 for a new hobie tiger boat, catemaran, at Hobie Cat Cape Town. Next minute they declare themselves bankrupt, I lose my money, there is some liquidation going on now, but they are selling Hobie Cat's again, under a new owner.
All I am saying is, be careful with these people, there's loads of Sharks in the sea, trust me, I've seen them.
now, I would pay only if I see things, for R105K, I would buy a KTM 990R, but only if I see it, no negotiantions. The money is there, show me the motorbike.
-
Someone get gerald to become a forum vendor then everything can be discussed on the forum openly
-
I spoke to Gerald,he said that he get the KTM 's from a friend in Pretoria
who has a KTM dealership, but the prices on the forum is wayout.Apparently
he sells the 990R for about R136 000
-
Yes gave me those numbers aswell so either he does better deals for some folk or there is somebody else also doing deep darkside business out there.
-
Im doing transport for a importing company.
They import KTM, Suzuki, Ducati ect.
Prices are not to bad if I can go on the insurance value of the bikes.
KTM 300 R79 000!
-
So we started with this
Around 90k for a 990 (New).
and ended with this
the prices on the forum is wayout.Apparently he sells the 990R for about R136 000
Or is this thread not wound up yet?
What happened to this part?
Well, I have seen a new 990R with my own eyes last night. R105k final price. :drif:

-
It's all a big mystery really.
-
If only someone can import a few 990R`s for the wilddogs @ R105k then I am sure we will have a big order list. :3some:
-
I have R10 000 cash that you can buy for R7 500.
-
So when are we seeing the first ride-report? :ricky:
