Title: KTM 690 Adventure conversion
Post by: Dakarjoe on August 19, 2010, 04:02:21 am
I am currently converting my KTM 690 R with Alberto Dotorri’s African Race kit. Has anyone done similar projects because I need some help?

Thanks for all the input but it looks like I may be the first in SA to attempt this build. The problem is that the fairing comes with an aluminium sub-frame which needs to be attached by drilling 2 x 8mm wholes thought the steering-head. I am not to keen to start drilling into the frame, especially into the steering head. I don’t suppose anyone would know how badly (if at all) the drilling will effected the frame?

And how is that an improvement on the original? Looks more like a monolith to me. Removes a lot of the off-road functionality, and adds weight (high up?). If you need extra fuel, pack a bladder. I don't like it at all. Just my 2c :-)

How about using the aluminum mount used on the 990 adv that will enable you to mount your speedo cluster. and your fairing without drilling holes.
